Quickly switch tabs as Sydney FC are currently trailing Melbourne City, with that game still in its early stages. Don’t forget, there’s also plenty of FA Cup action on Tribe over this weekend. Until next time, this is Sanil Karan signing off.
The Phoenix remain in eleventh place following the draw and will now travel to Newcastle Jets for their next fixture, hoping to climb up the table with a strong performance. The Wanderers, on the other hand, drop to fourth position after failing to secure all three points in this encounter, as Melbourne City are currently leading Sydney FC. Next up for the Wanderers is a challenging trip to league leaders Auckland FC, where they will look to bounce back and regain their position near the top of the table.
In the end, the game finished as a draw, a fair result in a match that saw plenty of attacking play and drama throughout. Both teams had their moments, with The Phoenix looking dangerous in spells but unable to maintain their lead, and the Wanderers showing great character to come from behind twice. It was an entertaining encounter that showcased the attacking flair of both sides, but ultimately, the points were shared.
As time wore on, the Wanderers pressed hard for an equalizer, and they finally got their reward in the dying moments of the match. Milanovic, who had been a constant threat throughout the game, received a pass from Borrello and, with a shift to his left, drilled the ball into the top left corner to score a dramatic equalizer. The Wanderers' resilience paid off as they managed to salvage a point from a game where they had been trailing twice. Despite this late setback, The Phoenix were still pushing for a winner, and Piper missed a golden opportunity late on to grab all three points.
The second half saw The Phoenix come out strong, seizing control of the match as they pushed the Wanderers back. Their dominance was rewarded when Geraldes finished off a precise pass from Barbarouses inside the box, placing the ball into the bottom right corner to give The Phoenix the lead once again. The Phoenix continued to create chances in the final third, with Ishige and Barbarouses involved in several promising attacks. However, despite their attacking threats, they couldn’t add to their lead, and the Wanderers began to push forward more aggressively in the latter stages of the match.
A highly entertaining contest comes to an end with both sides sharing the points after Western Sydney Wanderers came from behind twice to draw level with Wellington Phoenix. The Wanderers started strong, asserting early pressure and looking like the dominant side, but it was The Phoenix who took the lead through a well-worked corner move. Ishige's delivery found Piper, who rose highest and headed home to give The Phoenix the advantage. Despite this setback, the Wanderers gradually grew into the game, creating opportunities, and they eventually found their equalizer. Milanovic’s clever cutback found Kraev, who slotted it into the bottom left corner to level the score before the break.
90+5'
A very late attacking change for the Wanderers as Carluccio replaces Kraev, though with little time left on the clock, he might not even get a touch.

CHANCE! The Phoenix work the ball to Sutton on the left, and he delivers a precise cross into the box. It just evades the head of Walker but finds Piper, who rises to meet it. Unfortunately for the Phoenix, his header flies over the bar, and the chance goes begging as the score remains level.
