That wraps things up from this one, but thanks for joining us on Tribe. This is Ryan Nixon (@NewYorkNixon) signing off.
City will be disappointed, but they're a side battling a large injury toll at the moment, and know that they'll improve as troops return. Matt Leckie was the first of those to come back into the fold today, and while he was unable to turn things around, he did show glimpses of his class.
It's a win that Auckland will hope reenergises their season, following a five game blip that had seen them relinquish control at the top of the table. They've got a big clash with Adelaide ahead, and if they can get the points in that fixture, they'll have well and truly confirmed their title credentials.
In the second half, Auckland were happy enough absorbing pressure as City chased the game, but still created the better chances as they then looked to counter attack. Patrick Beach ensured the damage didn't become more, making a string of saves to deny Neyder Moreno, Marlee Francois, Liam Gillion and Cam Howieson, but it was nothing more than damage control by that point, as City struggled to find a way back into the contest, or to put pressure on Alex Paulsen's goal.
Back to the top of the table go Auckland, at least for the time being, with Adelaide to play later this evening. It was done in emphatic fashion too, despite the opening half hour being a cagey affair without much action in the attacking thirds. Guillermo May sparked things with a wonderful long range finish, which totally changed the energy of the contest, and Auckland capitalised before the break. Nando Pijnaker and Max Mata were able to find finishes following corners, ensuring the game was all but done come halftime.

SAVE! City are still looking to spoil the clean sheet, and burst forward for one last chance through Rahmani. He can't beat Paulsen at his near post!

CHANCE! Auckland have another opportunity for four! They spring forward after nicking the ball on the edge of their own area, with Gillion in behind the line. He has Moreno with him, but goes himself and Beach pushes it away! Gillion should have squared it...

OFF THE LINE! The corner finds Leckie unmarked beyond the back post, and his header beats Paulsen! Toomey is there to block initially, before Howieson then heads it away!
90+2'
A late corner for City, as they bomb forward down the right, only to see Smith put the cross behind.
