That wraps things up from this one, but thanks for joining us on Tribe. This is Ryan Nixon (@NewYorkNixon) signing off.
In many ways, this was a game befitting a top of the table clash. The teams played with plenty of physicality and intensity, pressing in midfield and not allowing either side to play with much freedom. That was before the second half adjustments, which allowed the goals to come, as the managers tinkered, introduced the subs, and provided the wild finish that eventuated. These two sides have now put themselves nicely clear of third placed Melbourne City, and will no doubt relish playing each other again later in the season.
That was far from the last talking point either, as Goodwin was able to put Adelaide in front after some great work from the impressive Dylan Pierias, and it looked like the Reds were home with the three points. Auckland just wouldn't lie down though, throwing everything forward at the death, and snatched a point as Logan Rogerson headed home from a late, late corner.
Out of nothing Auckland were able to find the game's opener, spring forward on the break, catching a bit of luck as the ball broke kindly for Neyder Moreno, and the Colombian - less than a minute after coming onto the park - buried an assured finish from the edge of the box. That goal seemed to really energise Adelaide, who then set about chasing the game, with Yaya Dukuly and Archie Goodwin the duo to spark the Reds. Dukuly was able to lay on the equaliser for Goodwin, in somewhat controversial circumstances, as a lengthy VAR review followed and could easily have gone either way.
An absolutely bonkers finish in the end, as the game exploded to life in the final half hour, but eventually the teams have to settle for a point each. In the first half, it was the defensive units who reigned supreme, as neither side were able to find a route to goal and the keepers were largely untroubled. However, it all changed in the second half, with the substitutes largely sparking the game to life.

INCREDIBLE! AUCKLAND SNATCH THEIR POINT BACK! De Vries curls the corner in towards the near post, and nobody gets near Rogerson inside the six yard box. He powers a header into the bottom right corner and Auckland are level!

Auckland have a late corner, as the Adelaide crowd whistle and jeer wanting the final whistle from King. De Vries rushes to take...

Auckland are searching for a late equaliser, throwing everything forward including Tommy Smith. He's almost on the end of a ball into the box from Elliot, before Cox punches clear a ball in from De Vries. Howieson then flicks on a header towards Bidois, who ends up giving away a free kick for a raised boot.
