That wraps up our coverage of this A League Men's clash between Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United. Stay tuned for live coverage of the Sydney derby, which is kicking off shortly. In the meantime, thanks for joining me, Zak Brown on Tribe!
Ruben Zadkovich has the tough task of picking his players back up and helping them prepare for their next match, which is away at Macarthur FC next weekend. Meanwhile, Adelaide will be confident of maintaining their unbeaten streak when they host Perth Glory on Friday evening.
Zach Clough kick-started Adelaide's come back with a goal inside the opening minute of the second half. His low strike found the net at the second attempt, with the ball cannoning off Ben Warland, who was Roar's last ditch line of defence. Half-time substitute Archie Goodwin then grabbed the goal to turn the game on its head, slotting home after a great assist from Dylan Pierias. Adelaide grew further in confidence after taking the lead and should have put the game out of sight. Jonny Yull and Ben Folami missed late chances, after a penalty decision to Adelaide was overturned following a VAR review. However, Adelaide held on with ease and they go joint-top of the A league, alongside Melbourne Victory on ten points.
The full-time whistle goes at Allianz Stadium and Adelaide take all three points in an entertaining game! It's no consolation for Brisbane Roar, who despite impressing in patches let their half-time lead slip. They remain rooted to the bottom of the A League ladder having now lost their opening four fixtures.
90+7'
Roar goalkeeper Macklin Freke, who had made his way forward for the corner, launches one final cross into the box after a short Brisbane throw by halfway. However, James Delianov claims the cross with confidence and that looks to be the final play in what has been a pulsating game!
90+7'
Jacob Brazete looks to take the ball around the outside of two Adelaide defenders, but he is intercepted and must settle for a corner, in what surely must be the final chance for Roar to equalise.
90+6'
Adelaide continue to control possession deep inside Brisbane territory, with the game slipping away from The Roar without any hint of a late opportunity to equalise. The away side bide their time, before restarting play with a throw in the corner of the pitch.
90+5'
Adelaide have another opportunity to put this game to bed, but Ben Folami blasts wide with a shot from inside the penalty area on this occasion. In what was a similar picture to Jonny Yull's chance just a moment ago, Folami and Madanha combine with an overlapping pass, followed by a cut back, but this time to the right of goal. Folami swung his right foot at the ball, but he leans back in the shot and the ball goes hopelessly high and wide.
90+4'
Jay O'Shea slips and it leaves Adelaide with a brilliant opportunity to break with an attacking numerical advantage. Jonny Yull feeds the overlapping run of Ethan Alagich to his left, who returns the ball to Yull with a simple cut back. From just eight yards out, Yull puts his shot wide when it looked easier to score! Yull will hope that he does not rue that missed chance, as Brisbane hurriedly take their goal kick.
