That wraps things up from this one, but thanks for following on Tribe. This is Ryan Nixon (@NewYorkNixon) signing off.
For the Mariners, it's another disappointing defeat, as they continue to ship goals while looking at times toothless going forward. The back to back championships and treble now seem a distant memory, as they start to lose touch with the top six.
It's a sign that Sydney might be starting to round into some form, despite dealing with injuries still to key players. Defensively, they'll be disappointed to again concede largely via a lapse and poor clearance, although it still took a wicked deflection to tarnish their clean sheet. On attack though, they looked sharp at times, with Anthony Caceres excellent, Joe Lolley doing his usual thing, and Klimala working hard on both sides of the ball to have an impact.
Job done in the second half by Sydney, moving into the top six courtesy of Adrian Segecic's second half hat-trick. They were well worth the win in the end, despite letting the Mariners back into the contest late in the first half. The game looked delicately poised at the break, with the score 1-1 after Harrison Steele's deflected effort had cancelled out Patryk Klimala's early opener. However, after half time it was all one way traffic. The Mariners couldn't generate any real opportunities going forward, outside of one headed effort from Alou Kuol, and time and again found themselves pegged in deep inside their half. Eventually it was the subs who did the damage, as Sydney FC got huge impact from Segecic, while Patrick Wood also provided an impact.

OH MY! PICK THAT ONE OUT! Out of nothing, Adrian Segecic has a hat-trick off the bench. Kucharski squares a pass to Segecic just outside the area, who then uses great strength to hold off the challenge of Wilson. As he does so, he lets fly with a left foot shot from just outside the area, and drills it into the top right corner!

SHOT! Perhaps the last opportunity for the Mariners to try set up a grandstand finish, as Steele has a pop from outside the area. It's never likely as it flies over.
