That wraps up our coverage of this A League Men's clash between Melbourne Victory and Perth Glory. The second half of Central Coast Mariners vs Sydney FC is just about underway if you are feeling like more A League action to round out your weekend. But in the meantime, thanks for joining me, Zak Brown on Tribe!
That result propels Melbourne Victory back into second place on the A League ladder, two points behind league leaders Auckland FC, who have a game-in-hand against The Victory. They have a bye coming up in the next round, before a mouthwatering Melbourne Derby against their city rivals the following week. Meanwhile, Perth Glory continue to languish near the foot of the table and are still searching for their first win of the campaign. They will be hoping that win comes at home to Newcastle Jets next weekend.
The full-time whistle goes at AAMI Park and Melbourne Victory take a deserved three points! The hosts did what they were expected to do, against a very poor Perth Glory side. Zinedine Machach opened the scoring and The Victory could have been further in front before half-time. They then doubled their lead just before the hour mark, as Adama Traore coolly finished off a flowing attacking move with a first-time finish from twelve yards. By this point, Perth still had not registered a shot on goal. Deeper into the second half, Adam Taggart had a goal ruled out for offside and Nathaniel Blair saw his shot well saved by Jack Duncan. But in truth, Melbourne Victory continued to dominate the game until the final whistle and ought to have won by a couple more goals considering their superiority.

David Williams' wasteful pass that was meant for Joel Anasmo rolls all the way through to Jack Duncan, typifying the overall performance from Perth Glory today.

A late double change from Perth Glory sees Zach Lisolajski and Joel Anasmo given a brief run-out, replacing Riley Warland and Adam Bugarija.

WHAT A MISS! Victory carve through the Glory defence once more with a slick attack. Jing Reec places a left-footed shot from the right of goal towards the far post, which is parried by Cameron Cook into the path of Jason Geria. Despite shooting from a narrow angle, Geria has the goal at his mercy from just a few yards out, but he blazes over the crossbar and is left to put his head in his hands!
