City will go back to the drawing board after tonight. They were outplayed across the park apart from some early chances and a couple of late strikes towards goal. They lacked any real ability to create chances through large parts of the match and when they did get into position the header or the strike was well off target. Atkinson and Ugarkovic tried through the middle but they lacked the help up front to be able to convert their opportunities. They head to Brisbane next week.
Western Sydney will be wrapped with that performance. It wasn't pretty at times, but they managed to find the back of the net twice, once through the penalty strike by Milanovic and then again with Antonnson putting the game out of reach of Melbourne City. Clisby and Cleur had solid games down the flanks while Milanovic was all over everything up front. They have the bye next weekend before the Roar come to town in a fortnight.
So the Wanderers get the job done at AAMI Park and banish that horrible performance against City from last season. They were clearly the better team out there this evening and took their chances. They move up to a provisional seventh on the ladder with their second win of the evening.

Thomas sends the goal kick back down the middle. City make a meal of it controlling it at the back and Mata manages to get onto it outside the box! He turns and shoots weakly off the left! Good save from Beach diving across to his left! City try to work the ball back up the right but the final whistle goes!

ANOTHER SAVE! Behich with the corner from the left! It is flat towards the near post! Trewin gets the head on it! Thomas makes the low save at the near post and turns it around for another corner! Delivery again from Behich and this time Jeggo heads it away at the back post for a goal kick.

SAVE! Jeggo has a shot from miles outside the box! This one is along the turf and forces Thomas to dive across to his right full stretch and make the save! Sends the ball back up the middle. City win a throw in on the left and then a corner as Behich sends it off Milanovic over the byline.

Four minutes of added time! City deliver a ball from deep on the right towards Behich! He smashes a ball across the face from the byline! Memeti gets half a touch on it which floats onto the the top of the net! City work it forward again and come into the box with Souprayen trying to bring down a lofted ball! He goes to ground and City are appealing for the penalty but play on is the call.
