Newcastle continue their impressive run, securing their third consecutive win for the first time since 2018. This victory has boosted their confidence as they head into a well-earned fortnight's break before facing the league leaders, Auckland FC, in what promises to be a challenging matchup. Their recent form has been a major positive for the team, and they will look to build on this momentum when they return to action. On the other hand, Brisbane's struggles persist as their poor season shows no signs of improvement. Despite some moments of promise, they were unable to get back into the game and now face another difficult challenge next week when they host Melbourne Victory. The Roar will need to regroup quickly and find a way to turn their fortunes around if they hope to get back on track this season.
Brisbane, despite some late substitutions and changes in tactics, could not find a way back into the match. They did have some opportunities, notably through the left side, but Newcastle's defense stood firm, with James making sure to secure any loose balls that came his way. Brisbane's frustrations grew as they couldn't break through, and Newcastle continued to press, looking for more goals, but content to maintain their comfortable lead. As the match wound down, Newcastle made a few substitutions to close out the game and keep their players fresh. Despite a late flurry of action from Brisbane, including a strong shot from Jelacic that was well dealt with by James, Newcastle held firm to see out the win. The final whistle confirmed a comfortable victory, a result that reflected their dominance throughout most of the match.
Newcastle were the dominant side in the first half, controlling the majority of the play and earning a deserved lead. Bayliss played a key role, providing the assist for Mizunuma, who continued his excellent form to break the deadlock. As the first half progressed, Newcastle pressed on, and their persistence paid off when a deflection fell kindly to Adams inside the box, and he slotted the ball in to double their advantage. However, Brisbane did manage to pull one back just before the break as O'Shea struck a powerful free kick, leaving Newcastle with a slender lead heading into the interval. The second half began with Newcastle holding onto their lead, but Brisbane came out with more intent, looking for an equalizer. Despite their efforts, it was Newcastle who would strike again, with Taylor getting on the end of a rebound after Timmins' shot rattled the right post. The goal gave the Jets a two-goal cushion and significantly eased the pressure on them. From that point forward, Newcastle were in control, and Brisbane struggled to break down their defense.

SHOT! Brisbane have one final chance as Jelacic cuts inside off the left and lets fly from the edge of the box. The shot is powerful but straight at James, who struggles to hold onto it due to the force of the strike. Luckily for Newcastle, their defenders are quick to react and clear the ball away, denying Brisbane any chance to capitalize on the rebound.
90+4'
A very late change for Newcastle as Mizunuma makes way for Arou. The substitution comes with just moments remaining in the match, and Arou will look to add fresh legs to the midfield.

CHANCE! M'Mombwa picks out Gibson on the edge of the box, who quickly slots a pass through to Dobson inside the right of the box. Dobson has a great opportunity to extend Newcastle's lead, but he fires his shot wide of the right post, wasting a golden chance. Brisbane breathe a sigh of relief as the ball drifts harmlessly out of play.

Wilmering delivers the corner for Newcastle from the left, but Brisbane manage to clear it away. However, in the process, M'Mombwa and Bility collide heads, and Bility is left down on the ground with blood on his face. He quickly walks to the sideline to have the blood cleaned off before potentially returning to the field.
