That is all we have time for on Tribe as Ivory Coast have become the Champions of Africa once again when just a couple of weeks ago it seemed that they were on their way out of the tournament. I have been Elliot Thompson and thank you for joining me. Make sure you tune in with us on Tribe tomorrow for more Premier League action as Crystal Palace host Chelsea.
Congratulations to Emerse Fae who would never have thought about this happening at the start of the tournament. He stepped in for the sacked Jean-Louis Gasset and well he evidently had the magic touch which will be remembered for the rest of time by his country who were all embarrassed about being the host nation but going out in the group stage. But everything changed and now they are the Champions of Africa once again. Wow!
Throughout the whole game, Ivory Coast dominated the game but Nigeria took the lead in the first due to a fantastic header from their captain William Troost-Ekong. It looked like they were in control of the game after that but Ivory Coast came out the blocks in the second half and were persistent. They got the equaliser thanks to a header from Kessie then Haller with just under ten minutes to go poked the ball home with a lovely finish thanks to some magnificent play from Adingra. The Brighton man deserves all the credit in the world after his display today, he was by far the best player on the pitch and the two assists prove that point.
IVORY COAST ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF AFRICA! Wow, can you really believe that? The side who sacked their manager due to a dismal display in the group stage have gone on to win the whole tournament. They are winners of AFCON for the third time in their history. Sebastian Haller is the hero, the man who had to overcome a cancer diagnosis back in 2023. What a story all round! They thoroughly deserved the victory on the night, they were the better side from the first minute. What a win!

Ndicka goes to take a free-kick but wastes time letting his goalkeeper come to take it so he goes into the book.

SHOT! rasso does excellently in the right corner to keep the ball for the Ivory Coast. Eventually, he loses possession but Singo gets on the loose ball. From a long way out he decides to swing his left foot at goal. His shot is miles off target but it will waste precious seconds for his nation.
