Nigeria took the lead through a spot-kick in the game by their captain Troost-Ekong and they appeared to win the game through a tap-in from Osimhen but the referee pulled it back for a penalty to South Africa after a VAR intervention. Mokoena scored to take it to extra-time and even though South Africa had a red card to Kekana in the extra 30 minutes they did take the game to penalties. However, Williams could not pull off the same heroics as he did against Cape Verde as he did not save one spot-kick meaning Nigeria will play either Ivory Coast or DR Congo in the final. What a game!
NIGERIAN ELATION BUT SOUTH AFRICAN TEARS AS THE PENALTIES COME TO AN END! Nigeria are the side that will be going the AFCON final after the dramatic game is ended by a penalty shootout with Kelechi Iheanacho becoming the hero off the bench. After the drama of penalties in the game, it felt only right that it would be spot-kicks to end the first semi-final.
