That is all for now from Cologne, where England and Slovenia have played out a stalemate! This is Nicholas Friedlander signing off.
Slovenia miss out on second spot by the most slender of margins, with an identical record with Denmark, they are third due to an extra yellow card received by their technical director! With a goal difference of 0 though, they will advance to the next round as one of the best third placed sides. They defended very well this evening, denying England of clear cut opportunities, meaning they were well worth the point that they got. Going forward, they'll need to find a greater threat on attack, but they'll back themselves to pull off a real upset against whoever they play.
England simply need to be better. These tournaments are not won in the group stage, and granted they find themselves now with a fairly kind route through to the final should they be good enough, but on current evidence, they won't be making it there. They were far too slow in possession for the majority of the game, only sparking into life once the substitutes were introduced. Kobbie Mainoo certainly balanced the midfield, and you'd consider him a strong chance to start the Round of 16 clash. Anthony Gordon and Cole Palmer also offered plenty after coming on off the bench, with the extra pace of the former something England have sorely missed thus far. As they are up against a third placed side, England now must wait to see who they will take on for a place in the quarter finals, though it is likely to be the Netherlands.
IT'S PARTY TIME FOR SLOVENIA! It might have been a bit of an uninspiring 0-0 draw, but with it still 0-0 in Munich between Denmark and Serbia, they should still be through, though we await confirmation of this. Despite this representing a poor result for England, they top the group, though a portion of their fans can be heard audibly booing them. There is plenty of work for them to do if they want to win this tournament.

A long goal kick downfield, and the referee has seen enough! It ends goal-less.

SHOT! Gordon is found on the left, where he drove back inside, working to Alexander-Arnold who had inverted into midfield. He had a crack from range, but he sliced it up and over the bar.

BEST CHANCE OF THE GAME! Gordon drove in deep, playing straight down the middle of the park where Mainoo had made an excellent dart! He played a perfect backheel into Kane, who perhaps could have played it back to him. He instead worked it right to Palmer, who charged onto it just inside the box! He whipped it first time, but in the end it was very tame, as Oblak got down and smothered it.

Slovenia aren't taking any chances here. On a booking, Erik Janza heads off, replaced by Jure Balkovec.
