That wraps things up here on Tribe, thanks for joining us. An entertaining and open game ends with just the one goal, but for Liverpool the fact they got it is all that matters. We'll be back tomorrow with all the coverage from the UEFA Europa and Conference Leagues, with three more English clubs in action. See you then.
For Liverpool their remarkable start to the season rolls on. They join Aston Villa at the top of the early standings with nine points out of nine. They had to roll their sleeves up at times here to keep another clean sheet, but you always felt there was another goal in this for the visitors, only for Peter Gulacsi in the Leipzig goal to deny them on several occasions. Cody Gakpo was a real stand-out in the Liverpool attack tonight, while Dominik Szoboszlai showed some lovely touches in the midfield. Andy Robertson had an impressive cameo late on off the bench, while Mo Salah was taken off without Liverpool losing any attacking verve in the final third of the game. Greater challenges await at the Emirates on Sunday in a huge Premier League clash with Arsenal, while Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen side are next to Anfield in the UEFA Champions League in a fortnight. On this form though Liverpool will fear no-one.
Leipzig battled hard to get back into this game in the second half, but they just lacked that killer final touch or quality to find an elusive equaliser. Lois Openda really struggled to keep himself onside at crucial moments, while Xavi Simons was always lively but pulled up with an injury late on. Benjamin Sesko probably had the best chances for the hosts but was denied by the outstretched leg of Caoimhin Kelleher in the second half. It felt like the German side ran out of steam in the final minutes, as this was a real high-intensity game. Marco Rose will hope his side can secure a result at the fourth attempt next time out when they travel to Glasgow to face Celtic.
Liverpool make it three wins from three games in the UEFA Champions League as Arne Slot's side triumph again on the road while keeping another precious clean sheet. Darwin Nunez's first half strike proved the difference here. For Leipzig it's three defeats in a row in Europe, and this result leaves them facing an uphill battle to qualify in the remaining five matches.
90+5'
Alexis Mac Allister squares a pass to Andy Robertson 25 yards from the Leipzig goal. With little on to him he decides to bend a strike towards the top left corner. It doesn't come round enough though and harmlessly flies behind. That will take up a few more precious seconds for Liverpool.
90+4'
SAVE! Liverpool aren't content to just hold onto the ball here. Luis Diaz sees the space open up ahead of him down the left as the Leipzig defenders back off. He opts to bend a strike on goal from the edge of the penalty area. Peter Gulacsi spills it but there's no Liverpool attacker following in. The hosts bring it clear.
90+2'
Andy Robertson is found high up the left by a crisp pass from Ryan Gravenberch. Robertson turns quickly and drills a low centre into the penalty area. Castello Lukeba slides in to deal with the danger for Leipzig.
90+1'
OFFSIDE! Lois Openda again gets ahead of the last man as a lovely through ball is sent his way down the left. Openda squares it behind Yussuf Poulsen anyway so the chance went begging regardless.
FIVE extra minutes for Liverpool to hold on as Leipzig keep battling away for an equaliser.
