The second half followed a similar pattern, with Monaco applying the pressure but struggling to find the net, as Vanderson discovered when his effort was expertly saved by Ter Stegen. However, a defensive error from Barcelona allowed substitute George Ilenikhena to break through and score, putting Monaco ahead again on his Champions League debut. Folarin Balogun nearly sealed the victory soon after with a powerful shot, but Ter Stegen was again equal to the task. Monaco had a chance to seal it late on when Martinez fouled Balogun in the box, but the referee overturned the penalty after reviewing the incident. Ultimately, Monaco held on to secure the win, continuing their impressive unbeaten start to the season.
Monaco could hardly have wished for a better start to their first UCL group stage match since 2018/19, as an early mistake from ter Stegen put Eric Garcia in a difficult position, leading to a red card for bringing down Takumi Minamino as the last man. Monaco quickly capitalized on their numerical advantage, with Maghnes Akliouche scoring at the near post shortly after. However, Barcelona responded effectively despite being down a player, as Lamine Yamal stepped up to equalize with a powerful shot. Monaco thought they had regained the lead through Wilfried Singo, but his goal was ruled offside, leaving both teams level at halftime despite Monaco's efforts.
MEMORABLE VICTORY FOR MONACO!

Raphinha steps up to take the resulting free kick, but his shot sails high and wide of the right post, failing to threaten the goal. The missed opportunity leaves Barcelona frustrated as they are running out of time.
90+2'
Raphinha cuts inside from the right and skillfully maneuvers past Mawissa, who responds by bringing him down in a dangerous area. The referee shows a yellow card to Mawissa for the foul, adding to the tension as Barcelona prepare for a potentially crucial free kick.
