Be sure to join us for the rest of our live coverage over this international break, as the UEFA Nations League and FIFA World Cup Qualifiers continue this weekend. Bye for now!
Frimpong and Gakpo had notable nights for the Dutch while Hato had a night to forget after losing possession for the first goal and then getting a red card late in the second half that shifted the momentum greatly. Spain weren't at their fluid best, but Williams showed his quality in key moments and Cucurella was dogged and determined in his defending, supported by the experience of Le Normand.
SPAIN EARN A LATE DRAW IN THE QUARTER FINAL FIRST LEG! Merino's poachers goal in stoppage time sets things up nicely for the return leg in Valencia on Sunday. It looked like the Dutch were going to dominate the second half as they raced ahead through Reijnders in the first minute and were the better side until the red card of Hato in the 81st minute. After that, Spain pinned the hosts back in their own half and built up pressure that eventually told late on as Verbruggen couldn't hold a Williams shot and Merino poked home an equaliser with only 2 minutes to go.

Porro's free kick is cleared initially, but then Olmo delivers another teasing cross into the box that van Hecke just about smashes up the pitch before the linesman's flag eases the pressure on the Netherlands with an offside against Spain.
90+4'
Spain again have the Netherlands pinned back in these final minutes. They go from left to right, looking for space in the box before Simons clatters into Le Normand out on the right and it is a free kick in a crossing position for Spain.
90+3'
SPAIN WITH THE LATE EQUALISER! Spain with more possession high up the pitch, Williams cuts inside of Frimpong who tries to stay with him and stop his swerving shot but can't. Verbruggen parries the effort into the box where Merino is lurking and he pokes it home from close range to draw things level late!
