Thanks for joining me here on Tribe as a late, late goal from substitute, John Stones earned Manchester City a dramatic point against ten-man Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium; I hope you’ve enjoyed our coverage; I’ve been Rory Morrow and I look forward to seeing you again soon for another live text commentary!
Up Next - The Carabao Cup begins for both teams in midweek; Manchester City hosting Championship side, Watford, on Tuesday night. The following evening, Arsenal entertain League One outfit, Bolton Wanderers, at home. It’s back to the Premier League then next Saturday where City travel to St James’ Park to play Newcastle United in the lunchtime match. Arsenal face Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium later in the afternoon.
Arsenal, who were so close to a fabulous rearguard victory, can be proud of that performance. Especially their gutsy second half with ten men. After emerging only 1-0 down from City's early onslaught, The Gunners were clinical as Calafiori blasted a rocket in for the leveller before Gabriel, having missed a similar chance in-between, unstoppably headed home. Trossard's dismissal (a second yellow card for kicking the ball away) meant a move to a back five in the second half; Raya excelled in keeping out Haaland as Arsenal managed the match cleverly. However, in the eighth minute of added time, they couldn't stop Stones from scoring. And that late concession may well come back to haunt them in the title race's final reckoning.
City, who started this game so strongly, threatened to run away with it early on as Haaland opened the scoring (his one-hundredth goal on his one hundredth City appearance). Rodri's injury really disrupted them, though as the momentum swung Arsenal's way midway through the first half. Conceding from a set-piece to fall behind will frustrate them, as will their inability throughout most of the second half to prize the ten men of Arsenal open. Raya denied Haaland and Kovacic shot over; otherwise City lacked penetration and will be relieved for Stones's late intervention to salvage a point which maintains their unbeaten start to the Premier League season!
PULSATING ENCOUNTER ENDS EVEN - What a match at the Etihad Stadium! Substitute, Stones, rescuing Manchester City at the death with a late, late leveller to deny ten-man Arsenal, what would have been a stunning victory. Haaland's ninth minute strike rewarded City's ferociously fast start before they lost the influential Rodri to injury. Calafiori whipped in a left-footed rocket to bring Arsenal level before Gabriel powered home a meaty header to give The Gunners the lead. Trossard then was sent off as he received his second yellow card right on the verge of half-time. Arsenal defended deep, heroically, frustrating Man City throughout a tense second half. But right at the death, Stones' late intervention, after Arsenal didn't properly clear a corner, grabs an invaluable point for The Champions.

STONES DRAMATICALLY STRIKES LATE - Manchester City have the equaliser! Grealish's corner, from the left, is played to Gundogan, outside the box. He lays it back to Grealish; his cutback finds Kovacic, centrally, whose powerful effort is parried by Raya's reaction save, diving low to his left. The ball comes out to Stones, on the right, six yards out. Stones turns and smuggles the ball into the roof of the net via a deflection off a prone Raya; the Etihad Stadium explodes!

Gundogan's delivery from the right is brilliantly claimed by goalkeeper, Raya. Grealish gets back on the ball, driving down the left to win another corner...
90+6'
Foden nearly releases Silva into space down the right wing. Jesus, back defending, gets the ball out of play for a corner... which he delays the taking of as he prods the ball away from Silva. Jesus goes into the book.
