That is all from North London. Arsenal get it done with a couple of set pieces to close the gap back to seven. For now, this is Nicholas Friedlander signing out.
United can take some positives from this, but it was ultimately a defeat that does nothing for them. They defended well, and as mentioned they dealt with most of the corners to a reasonable level, but they just had too many to defend. They controlled the first half well, but they had nothing going forward, which is something they will have to work on. It is a baptism of fire for Ruben Amorim, with another trip to Arsenal, and trips to Tottenham, City and Liverpool all to come in the next nine. It doesn't get much tougher than that as a start!
It is a successful night for the Gunners, who gain a couple of points on Liverpool who were held 3-3 at Newcastle. You feel there are still levels they need to go to if they are to win this title, but you would have to say their set pieces were imperious as always. United actually dealt with them relatively well, but it was a weight of numbers which did the trick, and there will be games where the numbers don't quite stack up. Defensively they were superb, with William Saliba turning in a classy performance in the centre of defence, whilst Thomas Partey was busy on both sides of the ball. The second half was better, and it will have them feeling confident heading into the busy Christmas period.
Two set-pieces do the job for Arsenal, who on the balance pick up a deserved victory. It was a weight of corners that did the trick for the Gunners, who didn't really create anything from open play. That said they forced their way into the front foot, and were worth the points. Once the goal came, they controlled the contest in a way they couldn't in the first 45. Timber got the first, before Saliba bagged the second which killed the game off.

Fernandes is caught offside, and that will just about do it.
90+3'
Arsenal are happily winding the clock down here, keeping the ball at the back.

JUST AWAY FROM DANGER! It was put right on top of Onana, with Partey meeting it at point blank range. The ball really bounced around, but it fell kindly for United who got it away.

Jorginho comes on for the final moments in place of skipper Martin Odegaard. He will look to shore things up.
