Arsenal have secured smooth passage through to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a big win over Bolton. The draw for the last sixteen is scheduled to be held later tonight, and Mikel Arteta will no doubt pay close attention to that. It's been a pleasure bringing you all the action from the Emirates this evening. For now, Harrison Ryburn signing out.
Next up for Arsenal is a Premier League clash with Leicester City here at the Emirates, where they'll be expected to resume winning ways. Meanwhile, Bolton make the trip to Crawley Town in League One, having scored six and conceded eleven from their last three games across all competitions.
A tough result for Bolton in contrast, who struggled to keep a leash on the Arsenal attack, and failed to disrupt the rhythm of their Premier League opponents. They started relatively well inside the first quarter of an hour, but the Declan Rice goal sunk them, and the Trotters failed to halt the tidal wave of Arsenal attacks that came their way throughout. Andrew Collins was at least able to bag them a consolation, but they failed to build on that momentum during the second half, and a lack of possession left them pinned back inside their own half. Nevertheless it's probably not a result that Ian Evatt will lose too much sleep over, and Bolton were never expected to come away with a result tonight.
Almost the perfect night for Arsenal, who were convincing from start to finish. Most impressive was the fact that despite fielding four teenagers, the Gunners still got on with the job, and never lost control. They dictated over 75% of possession and conjured 21 shots at the Bolton goal, continually getting forward down the flanks with the speed and skill of Saka and Sterling. The wingers combined well with Jesus up top too, whilst Rice, Jorginho, and Nwaneri laid down a strong platform in midfield. 16-year old Porter didn't have a lot to do in his senior debut, but he'll be slightly dissapointed he wasn't able to keep a clean sheet in goal. It's all part of the learning process for the young lad though, and a number of players have pressed their case for Premier League minutes to Arteta with strong performances this evening.
Fulltime at the Emirates and Arsenal have booked their place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a big win over Bolton Wanderers. A stunning long range strike from Declan Rice opened the scoring early on, and the Gunners cruised from there on in. Ethan Nwaneri bagged a brace either side of halftime, whilst Raheem Sterling scored his first goal in Arsenal colours, and Kai Havertz rounded out the scoring with a fitfth late on. Bolton managed a consolation through Andrew Collins in the second half, but that was all that the travelling fans had to shout about in a dominant Gunners performance. Mikel Arteta's side remain unbeaten in all competitions this season as such, and will have their eyes on the draw for the Carabao Cup last sixteen later tonight.
90+4'
Martinelli drives forward down the left, before cutting onto his right foot and whipping a dangerous delivery into the back post. It doesn't find a teammate though, and bounces behind for a Bolton goal kick.
90+3'
Southwood sends the goal kick up to halfway, where Arsenal regain possession through Kiwior. He sends it wide for Martinelli on the left again, and the Gunners set back up inside the attacking half.
90+1'
Into four minutes of injury-time, and Martinelli bursts away on the counter down the left wing, before settling for a corner off Cogley. Arsenal send numbers forward for the set-piece, but it beats everyone into the side netting at the near post for a Bolton goal kick.
