Fiji and France went hammer and tong for the full 14 minutes but it was Les Bleus 7s who progress through to the semi final by virtue of a last-gasp sideline conversion by Enahemo Artaud. Leading 5-12 at halftime, France were reduced to six men after Paulin Riva was binned for a deliberate knock down. Fiji made them pay instantly as Ilikili Vunaki streaked away for a long range try to level the scores before Iowane Teba struck a decisive blow with an 85m try with a minute remaining. France weren't to be denied however as Simon Desert scored out wide before Artaud landed the winner from the touchline.
