The Waratahs will be pleased with this outing, but need to be wary of overconfidence stemming from this emphatic win. There were certainly plenty of strides in the right direction though, and they'll be hoping to take this momentum with them when they face the Brumbies next weekend in their final warmup match ahead of Super Rugby Pacific kicking off mid-February.
Even when Pacifica did have ball in hand they found themselves on the backfoot. The defence from the Tahs was excellent today. They put in some absolutely massive tackles that served well to force Pacifica backwards with every carry, at times managing to force a retreat of 50m as the passing got ever sloppier under the pressure of the big hits coming from the Tahs. And on top of being forced backwards the defensive effort from the Tahs also managed to force plenty of knocks from the Pacifica outfit.
The Pacifica outfit were under the pump all over the park. Not only did they often find themselves scrambling on defence in open play, but they were under enormous pressure at the set pieces as well. They found themselves going backwards and giving away free kicks at scrum time, dealing with loose ball on their own lineouts, and trying desperately to stop a rampaging Tahs maul as well. All in all, they spent way too much time in this clash having to defend to really make this much of a contest.
An absolutely massive win for the Waratahs! They were on the charge from the get-go, scoring 11 tries in 80 minutes. They crossed the line six times already in the first 40, adding another five in the second half while only allowing NSW Pacifica to get over the line once throughout the match. The Tahs started early on in the piece, crossing the line for the first time within the first 5 minutes. It was a steady stream of tries early on, scoring the first five within the opening quarter of the match before Pacifica were able to slow their roll.

Grant bursts away off the back of the scrum before toeing it through to chase. Pacifica pinged for going off their feet as they clean up on the floor.
