That rounds things off from Wellington. A huge win for the Hurricanes! For now, this is Nicholas Friedlander signing off.
That is a huge step back from the Waratahs. All that good will they earned with the win last week feels like it has gone in the blink of an eye, with one of the worst showings you'll see all year from any side. Injuries in the backline hurt them, as they were not able to keep structure, but the likes of Joey Walton were hugely disappointing. Up front, outside of a few carries from Langi Gleeson, it was absolutely grim, leaving them with more questions than answers. Next week they are away to Moana Pasifika.
That win might just set up the Canes season. They delivered a smashing display, as Kirifi, Iose and Lakai took things to task in the loose forwards, setting the platform for the backline to shine. Riley Hohepa had the game of his life, running the game with his boot and out the hand, showing that he could well be the answer for the Canes at least in the short-term. Ruben Love stood up too, and don't forget Naholo's hat-trick. They will feel like they are back on track for the finals, as they edge to the midpoint of the season.
The Hurricanes have delivered a huge statement, wiping the floor with a woeful Waratahs outfit. The visitors managed the first try in each half, but that mattered little, as the home side reigned supreme for the rest of the contest. Kini Naholo bagged a well-taken hat-trick, with a smashing finish in the left corner putting the exclamation mark on it. Their pack was terrific, and they walk away with a deserved win.

TOO BIG, TOO STRONG! Devery lobbed to the tail, with the Canes working powerfully up towards the 5m line. Love called it wide, as they got it into the hands of Naholo. He took it 10m out from the line, smashing his way over the top of Lancaster to score in the corner!
