It ended on an ugly note as well, with almost the entirety of both teams involved in fisticuffs thanks to a tip tackle from Isgro who was promptly shown a red card after already being shown yellow earlier on in the half. But despite the sour note, France will be delighted to be wearing gold around their necks after what has been an excellent weekend for them ahead of their home Olympics next month!
Argentina were ruthless in the first half. They had all the momentum early on, but struggled to convert their dominance into points. They finally got onto the board six minutes in, only to have France hit right back. After the break they found themselves on the other end, and having to absorb an enormous amount of pressure as the French spread the ball around quickly, finding gaps around the wide channels and around the fringes to burst into.
France with their first HSBC SVNS title! It was a tight game in the first half, with France scoring a late try to take the lead into the break. But it was one-way traffic in the second 7, helped somewhat by a yellow card to Rodrigo Isgro shortly after the break. France struck quickly while they had the numbers advantage, and from there they had all the momentum.

France tap and go, and it's booted into the stands for the final whistle! Probably what they should have done the first time they got the penalty with the clock in the red...

It would be red either way as he's already been shown yellow in this match, but it's actually just a straight red card for Isgro as Riva was dumped on his neck there.

We're going back to check potential foul play here... ooh it's a tip tackle on Riva with the ball already long gone from the ruck....

Argentina tap and go now! They drive up over halfway before spreading it wide to the left wing where Fraga has oodles of space to run it in! The whistle goes before the ball is dotted down though... And it looks like everyone but the would-be try-scorer has decided to toss their handbags at one another...

France want to keep going! They tap and go, but get pinged at the breakdown for holding on.
