Thanks for joining me here on Tribe as Omar Marmoush’s first-half hattrick helped Manchester City thrash Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium this afternoon: I hope you’ve enjoyed our coverage: I’ve been Rory Morrow, and I look forward to seeing you again soon for another live text commentary!
Up Next - It’s a big week for Man City as they first travel to The Bernabeu on Wednesday evening to try and keep their European campaign alive. Then, they host league leaders, Liverpool, in a mouthwatering clash here next Sunday afternoon. Newcastle aren’t back in action until then, too, when they play Nottingham Forest at St James’ Park in the earlier afternoon slot.
Not one of Newcastle's best performances, that's safe to say. While Man City are hard to stop once they get going, Newcastle started slowly and allowed City to build up some momentum. Once the first goal went in, the floodgates opened with Newcastle's midfield being poured through and the defence carved apart, at will. Miley did show for the ball, as a second-half substitute, and made some positive attacking passes but, really, there's very little encouragement that Eddie Howe can take from yet another empty-handed journey to the Etihad Stadium.
Routine, ultimately, for Manchester City, something we haven't been able to describe their results as for much of this season. Marmoush was the star of the show, scoring three times: His first was a delightful lobbed finish, his second a low and accurate strike and his third reactive, swept high into the back of the net. McAtee did well as a substitute, decorating the score with his well-taken strike. The clean sheet will prove as satisfying to Man City, too, having nullified a dangerous Newcastle attack very effectively this afternoon. Could they overturn the 3-2 deficit against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night?
MAN CITY WIN AT A CANTER TO BOOST TOP FOUR CHASE - They may have been level on points coming into this clash but Manchester City have comprehensively outclassed Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium this afternoon, to give themselves the advantage in the top-four chase. City had the game won by half-time thanks to Marmoush's hattrick, his first goals for the club, within a devastating 14-minute spell that, really, put the result beyond doubt. Newcastle improved a little in the second half but struggled to create any clearcut chances. Instead, City garnished the scoreline with a fourth when McAtee, off the bench, swept in from a corner: That's the confident-boosting score that Man City needed before their Champions League second leg playoff tie at Real Madrid!

Gonzalez, midway inside his own half, nudges the ball into Kovacic's path. Miley, pressing, clips him and the free kick's rolled short to Lewis, on the right. He plays in Savinho, down the wing, who makes up good ground before rolling a pass back centrally to McAtee.
90+2'
Murphy embarks on a decent drive through the attacking half, centrally. He tries to release Wilson, ahead of him, but O'Reilly positions himself smartly, getting in the way to intercept possession for City, just outside his own box.

Newcastle's final switch sees Isak, starved of service all afternoon, replaced by Krafth.
