It was such a bizarre approach from Southampton today, with their three-at-the-back system playing a stupid high line which let Brighton go through on goal with basically every attack. The first three goals all come from the system being all over the place as Brighton's attackers had so much space. It meant the game was finished before it had even started. They were given some hope with Archer scoring at the start of the second half but he was flagged offside. Due to Wolves winning they are now 13 points off safety with relegation another week closer.
AN EASY DAY AT THE OFFICE FOR BRIGHTON SECURES THE POINTS! Well, that went as expected with Brighton not having to move out of second gear at any point during that match. They took the lead relatively early through Pedro who chipped Ramsdale with some legenace. In the second half, Rutter doubled their lead with a tap-in due to unselfish play by Minteh. Mitoma got his goal to keep up his remarkable form as he charged through the middle of the Southampton defence with ease before slotting home. Then the cherry on top of the performance for Brighton was academy graduate Jack Hinshelwood firing in from a corner for his second professional goal. That win was a big one for Brighton as Fulham were beaten so they have now moved up to eighth place, which could mean Europe next season!

OFF THE POST! Van Hecke on the right side drives forward then notices Baleba is free in the area. He picks him out with ease so Baleba shoots on his left foot. Ramsdale dives to his right to make a majestic save tipping the ball onto the post.

Sugawara plays the ball back to Ramsdale. He is put under pressure by Pedro and Gruda so has to get rid of it quickly. Webster wins the header which comes to Baleba. He picks out Adingra on the left wing who looks to cut inside on his right foot but Bree stops him.

Matheus Fernandes has been withdrawn by Ivan Juric for Albert Gronbaek. He was signed in January but is struggling for minutes and only has two here when the game is over.

WHAT A SAVE! Baleba runs forward with the ball and slips in Minteh. He moves into the box with Walker-Peters staying with him. Minteh fakes to shoot then fires with power towards the bottom left corner. Ramsdale dives the wrong way but manages to make the save with his feet.

That was Jack Hinshelwood's last involvement in the game that goal as Fabian Hurzeler has taken him off for Matts Wieffer. He has gone into right-back even though it is not his position.

BRIGHTON ARE RUNNING AWAY WITH THIS ONE NOW! Gruda on the left wing swings in a corner towards the back post. Southampton fail to clear so Hinshelwood chests it down in the area. He then thunders a shot into the bottom left corner for the cherry on top of this Brighton performance.

SAVE! Pedro drops deep into a huge amount of space in the centre circle. He clips a pass over the top sending Minteh on his way. Minteh beats Smallbone to the ball making his way into the box. The angle is tight but he shoots at the near post. Ramsdale spreads himself to make a fine block.

Webster finds Pedro who again has the ball with his back to goal. He has Bree right on him so has to pass backwards to van Hecke. The defender sends a low ball long trying to get Minteh in behind. Walker-Peters intercepts passing it to Ramsdale. He clears it up to Onuachu.

Ivan Juric has made a double change after that goal. Ugochukwu is off for Smallbone in midfield whilst Archer is also off for Onuachu up top. Those substitutes were ready before the goal.

WELL THAT IS ALL JUST SO EASY IS THAT FOR BRIGHTON! The ball is played into the feet of Pedro around 40 yards away from the goal. He touches it around the corner to Mitoma who is all of a sudden running through on goal. All three Southampton defenders cannot get near him. Mitoma runs into the area side-footing the ball home with composure.

SAVE! Ugochukwu wins the ball in midfield and passes it out to Sulemana on the left wing. Sulemana uses his pace to run at HInshelwood. He enters the box cutting inside on his right foot. Sulemana shoots at the near post but Verbruggen has everything behind it.

OFF THE LINE! Mitoma drives infield with the ball and sends Minteh through on goal with a pass in behind. Minteh moves into the box faking to shoot selling Ramsdale and Bella-Kotchup. He has a tap-in but takes too long allowing Ramsdale to come in. So Bella-Kotchup manages to boot it away near the line.

Fabian Hurzeler has made his first changes of the game with Ayari and Lamptey coming off. Diego Gomez is on for Ayari in midfield, he joined from Inter Miami in January. Estupinan is on for Lamptey.
