Brighton ended a disappointing five-match winless streak at home in the Premier League with a dominant victory. The Seagulls also continued Chelsea's struggles on the road, with the Blues managing only two wins in their last eight league games since Boxing Day. Brighton will now head to Southampton for their next match, while Chelsea make the trip to Aston Villa.
The Blues’ defensive vulnerabilities were laid bare as the Seagulls kept pushing for more, with the visitors unable to find a way back into the match as time ticked down toward the final whistle. Despite Chelsea’s efforts to fight back, Brighton’s clinical finishing and solid defensive structure ensured they would take all three points at the Amex.
After a couple of early missed opportunities from Georginio Rutter and Carlos Baleba, who both failed to test the goalkeeper, it was Minteh who seized his chance to score his second goal of the game and Brighton's third. He received a clever pass from Danny Welbeck and placed the ball past Jorgensen with the help of a slight deflection off Trevoh Chalobah. Chelsea’s frustrations mounted as Joao Pedro almost capitalized on a poor pass from Jorgensen, but his shot went wildly off target on his first touch after coming on. Brighton’s offensive continued to trouble Chelsea, with Joao Pedro heading over the crossbar and Jorgensen scrambling to save a shot from Veltman, which he managed to divert onto the post.
The atmosphere at the Amex was tense, with little warmth for returning players as Marc Cucurella was jeered every time he touched the ball. Chelsea were frustrated early on as Cole Palmer squandered two excellent chances, sending both efforts off target, and Noni Madueke was forced off with an injury after just 21 minutes. Brighton made their mark with an exquisite goal from Mitoma, who showcased brilliant skill to control a long pass from Bart Verbruggen and calmly place the ball into the bottom right corner. Chelsea's hopes were dashed further when Enzo Fernandez’s header was disallowed for a push on Joel Veltman, and moments later, Brighton doubled their lead after Danny Welbeck cleverly set up Minteh to finish with composure after cutting inside Cucurella.

James sends a long pass towards George on the right, hoping to launch an attack, but Lamptey reads the play well, intercepting the ball and driving forward. George, sensing the danger, pulls Lamptey back with a foul to stop the counter. The referee awards a free-kick to Brighton and that should be that!
90+3'
WIDE! Ayari slides a perfectly weighted pass through to Lamptey inside the left of the box, and with space to shoot, Lamptey tries to find the bottom left corner. However, under pressure from James, his effort is off target and drifts wide of the left post.
90+1'
O'Riley and Pedro link up on the right, attempting to create an opening for Brighton, but Chelsea's defense holds firm, and the attack fizzles out. Chelsea regain possession and look to push forward, trying to make something happen as time begins to run out.
