But that's all from me, in this game that had a bit of everything and burst into life in the second half. Piol's goal was worth the price of admission alone, and then the late drama of the Macarthur win sealed a magnificent match. Time for a cup of tea and a lie down! I've been Carl Allport here on Tribe, see you next time!
That win sends Macarthur up to fifth in the table, above Sydney FC on GD. Next up, after the international break, Sydney will be back here to take on Western Sydney Wanderers. Macarthur will head back down the M31 and wait for the visit of the high-flying new boys Auckland FC.
Macarthur will say they deserved that but don't buy it. They had the better chances in the first half and deserved to go ahead with their first, utterly magnificent goal through Ariath Piol (look up the video somewhere - anywhere). Then Macarthur stopped playing! A man up after Matthews was sent off just before half time, and they sat back and let their ten-man opponent come at them. Credit for the breakaway winner but boy, they were lucky not to concede in the minutes before their winner.
Sydney pressed well - as we knew they would - but for all their possession in the first half they couldn't break through. They were even less likely to score than their opponents! That high line always gives away chances but that's how they play. Sena started well but got slower and frustrated after a knock to his thigh in the first half. Carceres and Burgess bossed the midfield and Ouahim looked dangerous on the right. They deserved their equaliser after playing all the football after the Macarthur goal, and you could say they deserved to score the winner with the likes of Quintal tearing up the Macarthur defence. In the end, the numbers worked in Macarthur's favour and they couldn't defend the final counter-attack.
THAT'S IT - MACARTHUR HAVE DONE IT!! They took the lead through a Piol stunner, then sat back and just waited for Patrick Wood to equalise. He duly obliged and Sydney FC, a man down, pressed for another goal to get them all three points. They couldn't break through and Jakolis hit them on the counter for the late, late winner. How can you not love football after a game like that!!??

Jaklois takes his shirt off in celebration and gets a little-cared-about yellow.

MACARTHUR WITH THE SUCKER PUNCH ON THE BREAK!! Brattan sends a lovely ball long over the half way to Germain running down the right channel. He takes it to the top of the box and drills a low ball across the box to Jakolis who scuffs a shot from the back post into the bottom right corner of the goal FOR THE WINNER!! Oh, Patrick Wood may have stopped that final pass, it literally bounces off his foot and into Jakolis's path!
