That wraps up our coverage of this clash between Melbourne Victory and Macarthur FC. There is still one more game to come in this A League Men's gameweek, with Western United hosting Melbourne City tomorrow evening. Please join us again then, but for now, this is Zak Brown signing off.
Melbourne Victory are at home again next up, as they host Brisbane Roar on Saturday evening. Meanwhile, Macarthur will travel across Greater Sydney to face Sydney FC next up.
The result sees Melbourne Victory climb up to second in the league, leapfrogging Sydney FC. Meanwhile, Macarthur have now lost two in a row after their 6-1 rout of Perth Glory, but remain in sixth position thanks to a superior goal difference over their closest rivals.
The full-time whistle goes at AAMI Park and Melbourne Victory take all three points from their first home game of this A League campaign! They get their revenge over Australia Cup winners Macarthur, who opened the scoring early in the second half through a Valere Germain header. However, Melbourne Victory were persistent in their attacking efforts and were rewarded with a penalty midway through the second half, after Walter Scott had handballed in the area. Substitute Daniel Arzani duly converted, sending Filip Kurto the wrong way. Then just six minutes later, Reno Piscopo struck the match-winning goal with a pearler of a strike from 25 yards out. Macarthur desperately looked for an equalising goal, but in truth they failed to test Victory goalkeeper enough throughout the game. Ultimately, Victory held on and maintain their unbeaten start to the season!
90+7'
The ball almost falls for Dean Bosnjak inside the Victory penalty in the dying seconds of the game, but he cannot connect cleanly with a loose swing at the ball, which rolls harmlessly to Jack Duncan. That surely was the last chance for Macarthur to level the game late on...
90+6'
Marin Jakolis beats Daniel Arzani on the right for Macarthur, but his cross towards the far post is flicked away towards the opposite wing.
90+5'
Geria is there again to clear for Melbourne Victory! But the linesman's flag is then raised for an offside against Valère Germain, who had just cut the ball back across the six yard box.
90+4'
Another Marin Jakolis cross from deep on the right is cleared away superbly by Jason Geria, who had a Macarthur man on his back waiting for an opportunity to pounce.
90+2'
An outswinging corner for Macarthur is met by the imposing figure of Harry Sawyer at the far post. Sawyer keeps his header down and on target, but the ball bounces straight up into the gloves of Jack Duncan.
