Adelaide have kept their unbeaten run alive and put the defending champions to the sword with a statement victory. Make sure you join us tommorrow for a big day of A-League Men's action, starting with Macarthur's trip across the ditch to Wellington. It's been a pleasure bringing you all the action from Industree Group Stadium in Gosford tonight. For now, Harrison Ryburn signing out.
Next up for the Mariners is a trip to Macarthur next weekend, where they'll look for a swift response to get back on track. Meanwhile Adelaide are flying high and will finish the year with two home games, starting with Sydney FC at Coopers in seven days time next Friday.
You couldn't have picked that from the Mariners tonight, who were shockingly flat from start to finish. They showed a bit of energy inside the opening moments, but when Adelaide got a handle on the ball, they struggled to get out of their own half, were left chasing their opponents. Mark Jackson failed to inspire a comeback in the second stanza either, falling apart under the pressure instead, by conceding three second half goals. It's a shocking reminder of the talent the side have lost since winning the title, and tonight they looked a stark shadow of the team they were last season.
A statement from the Reds tonight, marking their first real dominant performance of the season to extend their unbeaten run. They were the first to settle into their rhythm early on, and took charge with a goal inside the first twelve minutes, making the Mariners chase the contest early. It played right into their favour, and by controlling the bulk of the possession, and the tempo, Carl Veart's men dictated on their own terms. Zach Clough was a standout going forward, providing two assists, whilst Archie Goodwin was also impressive, alongside Mauk and Ayoubi. Dukuly made his mark with a stunning solo goal off the bench too, and this was a complete performance from Adelaide in every aspect. It's the perfect way to cap Isaias' special night too, becoming the club's all-time top appearance holder on a memorable night for the Reds.
Fulltime in Gosford and Adelaide United make it seven games unbeaten with a four goal drubbing of the defending champions. It was expected to be tight tonight, but proved all one-way traffic throughout, and goals from Panagiotis Kikianis and Stefan Mauk at the start of the second half quelled any chance of a Mariners fight back. The hosts fell apart as a result, and Yaya Dukuly made his mark off the bench with a fourth goal late on, completing the whitewash. The Mariners tumble back down to Earth after consecutive victories, whilst Adelaide are up to second on the ladder.
90+3'
White wins the ball inside the attacking half, and finds Jovanovic near the top of the box. The striker turns it wide for Pierias on the right, but the latter fails to get a shot away, and Adelaide are happy to keep the ball.
90+1'
R. Tunnicliffe
Isaias
90+1'
Isaias makes way on the occasion of becoming Adelaide United's record A-League appearance holder, and he's had a strong performance too, picking up an assist to his name. Ryan Tunnicliffe comes on in his place for a first appearance of the season, whilst Jonny Yull is on for Clough.
