It was Fiji who struck first in the opening minute, but Ireland hit back with two quick tries before the break to take the lead into halftime with some stunning handling that put Fiji under pressure on defence. They extended their lead in the second half with another try, but Fiji managed to tidy up their own game after that, throwing everything and the kitchen sink at Ireland to score two tries of their own to retake the lead.
What an effort! Fiji had to defend for four minutes into extra time to prevent Ireland from getting the winning score, conceding a couple of penalties in their effort but managing to finally come away with the ball to secure the win! Fiji's unbeaten Olympic record remains intact despite an enormous efrfort from the Irish!
