New Zealand secure their semi-final spot as a result of topping Pool A with three bonus point wins. Spain meanwhile were competitive in all three matches despite losing heavily in each one - they will fight it out in the ninth-place semi finals in a few days time. Until then, this is Anthony Morgan signing off.
Official statement from World Rugby: "Due to heavy rainfall at Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch and after a pitch assessment from match officials and organisers, the match between New Zealand U20 and Spain U20 has been stopped as it couldn’t be continued in safe conditions. As per the tournament rules, the result and score at half-time (New Zealand 45-13 Spain) will stand."
MATCH CALLED OFF AT HALFTIME! Due to the rapidly deteriorating conditions at Danie Craven Stadium, a call was made for the match to be abandoned at halftime. New Zealand defied the conditions to run in seven scintillating tries while Spain scored one of their own in an entertaining half of Rugby. Cooper Grant scored the opening try from an Isaac Hutchinson offload, with Hutchinson and Xavi Taele two standout performers for New Zealand.
