New Zealand secure their semi-final spot as a result of topping Pool A with three bonus point wins. Spain meanwhile were competitive in all three matches despite losing heavily in each one - they will fight it out in the ninth-place semi finals in a few days time. Official statement from World Rugby: "Due to heavy rainfall at Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch and after a pitch assessment from match officials and organisers, the match between New Zealand U20 and Spain U20 has been stopped as it couldn’t be continued in safe conditions. As per the tournament rules, the result and score at half-time (New Zealand 45-13 Spain) will stand."

MATCH CALLED OFF AT HALFTIME! Due to the rapidly deteriorating conditions at Danie Craven Stadium, a call was made for the match to be abandoned at halftime. New Zealand defied the conditions to run in seven scintillating tries while Spain scored one of their own in an entertaining half of Rugby. Mosese Bason powered over for two tries for the Baby Blacks while Josh Smith, Tom Allen and A-One Lolofie also crossed the line in a fruitful evening for the pack. Cooper Grant scored the opening try from an Isaac Hutchinson offload, with Hutchinson and Xavi Taele two standout performers for New Zealand.

VAENUKU GOES OVER! New Zealand get strong forward momentum in the scrum before Taele takes a solid carry in the midfield. Grant then fires a long floated pass to Vaenuku who cuts back infield and powers through two defenders to score.

New Zealand work it inside the 22m where Maxwell's grubber is blocked. Massoni is caught offside at the breakdown and the Baby Blacks opt for the scrum 15m out.

Grant comes up with another quality low pick up and clears to touch. Spain make an error in the lineout and New Zealand will have the scrum 5m short of halfway.

Hutchinson converts from just to the right of the posts.

BASON GETS A DOUBLE! New Zealand opt for the scrum 7m out where O'Donovan zips off to the left and is tackled just short of the posts. Bason picks it up at the base and powers over to score his second try.

The Baby Blacks are awarded a penalty after Spain are caught offside twice in quick succession. Ofojetu is the initial culprit and has been sin-binned for repeated team infringing.

New Zealand kick downfield where a good chase pins Spain near their 10m line. A strong tackle by Bason drives them backwards before Lowe gets over the ball and wins the penalty for holding on. Grant finds touch 18m out.

Spain find touch 32m out and hammer away with a series of direct carries in the midfield. Otamendi puts in a chip to the left that is scooped up brilliantly by Grant who is tackled outside his 22m.

The conditions are torrential in Stellenbosch with visible puddles developing.

Spain are awarded a penalty on their 10m line for a dangerous cleanout. Velasco picked up an injury in the collision and has left the field on the Medicab.

Otamendi lands the penalty from 30m out right in front.

Maxwell takes down the restart before Bason takes a carry in the middle of the park. Grant kicks downfield before Rocaries puts in a nice kick to the right. Spain are awarded a penalty after Sanele is pinged for advancing in front of the kicker.

Hutchinson's conversion attempt bounces back off the left upright from 7m in from the right touchline.

THAT WAS RELENTLESS! New Zealand take clean possession from the lineout and they get their maul steamrolling forward towards the line. Lolofie is the man at the back and he is driven across for the Baby Blacks' fifth try.

New Zealand are awarded a penalty in the scrum after Gomez is pinged for having an elbow on the ground. Grant finds touch 7m out.

The Baby Blacks spill it forward in the lineout. Spain with the scrum 5m outside their 22m.

An accurate kick by Grant bounces towards the touchline where Ofajetu gets back and shows good desperation to defuse the 50/22 attempt. Rocaries clears to touch just outside the 22m.

Lopez de Haro puts up an accurate box kick that is spilt into touch by Vaenuku near halfway. Spain opt for the lineout and work it through a couple of phases in the forwards. Lopez de Haro goes to the air once again where New Zealand take possession on their 10m line.

Otamendi converts from the left touchline.

TRY AWARDED! Otamendi's kick is spilt backwards by Maxwell where two Spanish players led the race to the ball in the in-goal. Ofajetu is the man who grounds it for Spain's first try.

Rizzo surges up towards the 22m as Spain work it towards the middle of the park. Lowe is penalised for offside at the breakdown and Otamendi fails to find touch near the corner. It is spilt backwards by Maxwell into the in-goal where Spain get up claiming a try. The TMO will confirm who grounded it first.

A double knock on is ruled from the restart. The first is from the Baby Blacks so Spain will have the scrum 25m out.

ALLEN SCORES A CRACKING TEAM TRY! Otamendi clears downfield from the scrum where Hutchinson collects and spins past one defender as he breaks into the clear down the touchline. He passes inside to O'Donovan, who zips inside the 22m and passes it off to Allen who dives over to score under the posts.

Taele takes another strong carry in the midfield as New Zealand work it forward. This time they come up with an error in contact through Tito-Harris. Spain with the scrum 20m short of halfway.
