Make sure you stay with us on Tribe for all the rest of the Super Rugby Pacific action this evening. It's been a pleasure bringing you all the action from FMG Stadium in Hamilton. For now, Harrison Ryburn signing out.
The Chiefs remain at home for another Grand Final replay with the Blues next Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile, the Hurricanes travel home to Wellington, desperately in need of some confidence against Matatū.
Another very tough afternoon for the Hurricanes Poua, and simply put, they don't look up to speed with the competition this season. They tried to take the game to the Chiefs with lots of attacking position early, but handling errors thwarted them, and they left a lot of points off the scoreboard. That dented their confidence, and they struggled to keep the Manawa out down the other end, leaking points, and losing sight on the scoreboard. Siataga was probably their best, and scored the team's only try, but it was tough afternoon for everyone, and it's hard to see the Poua picking up even a single win at this rate this season.
The Chiefs are on the board for 2025, and in commanding fashion. They were forced to weather a bit of a storm from the Poua through the first quarter, but improved as the game wore on, and as the points built up on the scoreboard. Their attacking play was clinical, particuarly off the back of set-piece, and they struck the perfect balance between being direct and spreading it wide. Charmaine Smith led her side's effort with a powerful performance through the middle of the park, supported by Mataele, Connor, and Kukutai in the pack. Whilst Ruby Tui was the standout in the backline, alongside Maaka and Holmes. Lots to be happy about for the Chiefs Manawa, and they'll hope that provides the boost they need to get their campaign going for the 2025 season.
Full-time in Hamilton and the Chiefs Manawa have secured their first victory of the season over the Hurricanes Poua in emphatic fashion. It was one-way traffic from start to finish for the hosts, scoring four tries in either half, bookmarked by a double from Ruby Tui, in a dominant performance. It's a confidence-boosting result for the Manawa, whilst the Poua remain winless and rock bottom on the ladder, with a dreary -101 points differential from three games.
80'
The line-out is good, and the Poua look to keep ball in hand as they try to finish with the last laugh. Siataga carries up to halfway, before it comes back for Ferguson on the left. It's knocked forward in contact though, and that will signal the final whistle from the referee.
79'
The line-out is good, and again the Chiefs set the drive. The Poua hold firm in defence though, and come up with a penalty for an obstruction against Green at the back. They find touch 40m from their own line.
78'
The Chiefs get another penalty at the scrum, and they'll go to the line-out 5m from the try-line as they chase 50 points late in the game.
78'
The Poua try to run it out of their own end, and Sae ends up knocking it forward in a tackle from Holmes. It's all become very messy late on, and the Manawa will feed a scrum 30m out on the left wing.
