It's a devastating end to a really horrible season for Canada, who are now carrying a 29-match losing streak on their shoulders on top of having lost their status as a core nation in the Sevens circuit. For Spain, it's a massive relief, in front of their home fans, to retain that status with a great win!
Spain will remain on the HSBC SVNS Series next season, but it's heartbreak for Canada who find themselves relegated to the Challenger Series. Spain were absolutely ruthless on defence and relentless on attack, forcing errors from Canada that allowed them to take turnover ball and get quickly onto the front foot. They spread the ball around beautifully, and Canada just couldn't keep up with the intensity with which this weekend's hosts were playing.

The clock ticks into the red as Spain waste a bit of time... tapped and sent into the stands for the final whistle!

Canada pinned down in their 22 from the restart here.. Wide to the left wing where they've only gone further backwards as Coats is clattered in the tackle. Shift back infield, and Spain over the breakdown to win the penalty!

No extras from out on the right touchline.

Missed Conversion

Scrum called by Spain. Openside ball to Nieto who spreads it further infield. Burst in the midfield gets them almost up to the 5, and a quick recycle out wide to the right wing leaves Manteca with enough space to dive over in the corner!

Try

Manteca dragged down as he tries to drive up, and then Spain get back up into the 22 out on the left wing. Penalty against Canada for not rolling on the floor!
