That's it for this match, but stay with Tribe as Liverpool's clash with Aston Villa kicks off shortly. Liverpool are aiming to extend their lead to five points over City. Until next time, this is Sanil Karan signing off.
Brighton move into the top four after maintaining an unbeaten run of six matches at home to start their league campaign. For City, the result is a major blow, as they could find themselves five points behind early leaders Liverpool by the end of the day.
Brighton came out stronger in the second half, with Carlos Baleba introduced to bolster their midfield, and they created several promising chances. Jack Hinshelwood was denied by a save from Ederson after meeting Pervis Estupinan's cross, while Georginio Rutter and Savinho both missed opportunities at either end. Brighton continued to press, and after Joao Pedro missed a chance, they finally found their equalizer when Pedro pounced on a loose ball in the box. The Seagulls completed their turnaround shortly after, as a well-worked move ended with Matt O’Riley scoring on his Premier League debut, securing a dramatic win over the champions.
Manchester City, aiming to avoid consecutive Premier League losses, came out strongly from the start, dominating possession. Despite their early pressure, clear chances were scarce until Savinho forced a low save from Bart Verbruggen after a pass from Mateo Kovacic. The Croatian continued to unlock Brighton's defense, setting up Erling Haaland for a well-taken goal midway through the first half. Although Haaland could’ve had a hat-trick, Verbruggen made a crucial save and Haaland later missed a header. Brighton struggled to break free from City’s control, but their best opportunity came when Kaoru Mitoma found Danny Welbeck, whose shot was blocked by Josko Gvardiol.

Kovacic delivers a ball for Walker inside the right of the box, and Walker heads it down, but it’s only half cleared by the defenders. De Bruyne follows up with a cross from the right, but it’s headed clear again. Silva then lifts it into the box once more, but Verbruggen is there to claim it. Meanwhile, Haaland and van Hecke get tangled up, and both players are shown yellow cards for their involvement.

BLOCK! O'Riley plays a pass to Moder on the right, who then cuts it back to Baleba. The fans roar for him to shoot from distance, and Baleba does just that, but Simpson-Pusey steps in to block the effort.
