Liverpool have maintained their 100% record at the top of the Champions League ladder with an impressive victory over Real Madrid. Make sure to join us again on Tribe tomorrow for live coverage of both the Europa and Conference Leagues. It's been a pleasure bringing you all the action from Anfield tonight. For now, Harrison Ryburn signing out.
Liverpool have another huge clash on Monday, with the visit of defending Premier League champions Manchester City to Anfield. That already looks to be a decisive clash in the race for the title this season, and the Reds could open up an eleven point gap over their rivals should they claim another victory. Meanwhile, Real Madrid return to La Liga action with the hosting of mid-table Getafe at the Santiago Bernabeu on the same day, where Ancelotti will be expecting a third straight league win to narrow the gap at the top of the table.
Another difficult result for Real Madrid on the continental stage, and they've lost three group stage games in the Champions League for the first time in their history with this outcome tonight. Carlo Ancelotti's men started as underdogs, but gave themselves a chance with the way they resisted through the first stanza. Their midfield press was disciplined with Modric leading the charge, and they were able to shut out Salah and Diaz through the first half. When their opponents lifted the tempo, Los Blancos were unable to keep up though, and fell by the wayside. Mbappe's missed penalty was another big blow, and the result could have panned out a lot differently had he levelled the game back up. More pressure heaps on Madrid now as they drop down to 24th on the ladder, and all of a sudden missing out on the knockout stages altogether is becoming a real worry.
The momentum just rolls on for Liverpool, who were a class above the defending European champions tonight. They dictated and controlled the contest right throughout, holding onto over 63% of the possession, and doubling the shot tally of their opponents in front of goal. Connor Bradley, Curtis Jones, and Caomihn Kelleher were all outstanding, delivery career-defining performances on one of their biggest nights. Bradley stood out for his exceptional tackle on Mbappe at the back in the first half, whilst Kelleher later denied the Frenchman from the spot, and Jones was involved in the thick of the action through the middle of the park. Alexis Mac Allister was also at the top of his game, breaking the contest open with the first goal, and proving key in defusing the Madrid attacking threats. They did lack some discipline in the middle of the park at times, and became embroiled in some frustration by conceding a plethora of fouls in the first half. Slot's men were too good for their opposition though, and he has to be pleased with another commanding European performance to maintain their position at the top of the standings.
Fulltime at Anfield and Liverpool have made it five wins from five in the Champions League with a comfortable two-goal victory over Real Madrid. They were left frustrated through the first half, but the Reds upped the ante after the break, and finally hit the front with a superb individual effort from Alexis Mac Allister. Both teams missed from the penalty spot in the drama that ensued, but substitute Cody Gakpo put the game to bed, throwing his head at a well-worked corner routine to seal the three points for Arne Slot's men. It's a result that ends Liverpool's eight-game winless run against Real Madrid dating back 15 years, and this will go down as another famous night and result at Anfield.

SAVE! Madrid come away down the other end, and Vazquez makes a solo run down the right flank, before cutting inside towards the top of the box. He scoops a left-footed effort towards the top left corner of the net, but it doesn't have any power on it, and Kelleher collects.

CHANCE! Liverpool hit their opponents on the break, and Diaz latches onto a long ball over the top of the Madrid defence. He's left with just Courtois to beat as he advances down the right-hand side of the box, but the Belgian makes himself big again, and comes up off his line to deflect away with another big stop late on.

The visitors pinch back possession from the free kick, and turn it back in the direction of Rudiger. He trades passes with Courtois in goal, who plays a searching ball up the middle of the pitch. Bellingham picks it up and switches play for Mbappe on the left, but his delivery into the middle is cleared at the back post. Four minutes of injury time.
