City came and did what they had to. Their fitness and recovery is obviously very good, they had so much more energy and running today. McNamara was a mixed bag but always looked dangerous and provided the one piece of skill that this game needed. The City back four looked in no danger whatsoever and the midfield played 100 passes more than their hosts - almost all perfectly accurate. They will take some stopping if they're going to be denied the Premiership AND Championship.

Paul Temple might have had "a plan" but surely it wasn't to carry on the themes of a disappointing season. The players looked tired mentally and physically, and resigned to a loss as soon as they went behind. Main and Fergusson missed chances, Jale misplaced too many passes, Barry and Kelly both dropped off for the goal and Jaber played the woman instead of the ball. The players can only look at themselves for another poor performance and only one win in the last 9 games now. That's not top six material.

In the end, Holly McNamara's first half volley separates the teams - that and a gulf in class, fitness and intent.

The final whistle goes, the Phoenix players collapsing to the ground as the City players look like they could go again. The Phoenix season all but ends with a whimper.
