Tessier finds touch 10m out from the line following the penalty, but again the line-out is wayward in attacking position, and Tuttosi's throw isn't straight. Scrum feed for England deep inside their 22. 

England get a penalty advantage at the scrum, and the referee comes back for it as the ball is dropped in midfield. Time goes off as Gallagher is attended too for Canada. These are the pivotal moments. 

Aldcroft steals the line-out at the front for England, and it gets messy at the breakdown, before the visitors are eventually awarded a scrum feed 40m out on the left-hand side of the field. 

Fulltime in Vancouver and England have come from behind in the second half to defend their WXV1 title with a gritty victory over Canada. It was tight and tense throughout between the top two ranked sides in the world, and the Red Roses' 19-game winning streak appeared in jeopardy with fifteen minutes to play, only to rally through their replacements and steal victory with two late tries. It'll go down as their toughest test since losing the 2022 World Cup final, but again England showed why they're the best, maintaining their composure under the pressure to come out and finish the 2024 season with another win and another title. 

ENGLAND LEVEL IT UP! Aitchison is taken in a heavy tackle, before Taling has a carry. Bern gets them up within 5m following a powerful charge through the middle, and England keep it tight now. Ward has a dart around the side of the ruck, but it's Bern that gets over with her second carry, powering through to level it up. It was all about the forward replacements there, and England have rallied despite having only 14 on the field. 

Aitchison finds touch just inside the 22 from the penalty, and the throw is taken down by Aldcroft. England get the penalty advantage for a tackle in the air too, and they set the maul and make a few good meters. The big pack gets within 15m out, before a cross-kick comes wide for Kildunne on the right wing. The latter loses it forward though, and the referee comes back for the penalty. 

Cokayne finds Aldcroft at the front of the scrum, and England set the maul. Canada do well to get into disrupt though, and the hosts end up holding the ball up for a scrum turnover. Big defence, and Senft and Holtkamp were pivotal. 

Rowland adds the extras from just to the right of the posts and England hit the front. 

Tessier adds the extras from just to the left of the posts and Canada have a five-point lead with less than half an hour to play. 

No problems with the line-out for Cokayne this time, and England set with possession just inside their own half. Botterman powers up over halfway, before Kildunne gets involved with a carry up to the 10m line. She's almost held up by the opposition defence, but Galligan ends up spilling it forward on halfway moments later. More big defence from Canada and they force another error. 

Scrum for England 40m from their own line, and Hunt feeds it in again. It comes out for Rowland in midfield, but her pass wide for Kildunne on the left leaves a lot to be desired, and rolls away over the sideline. Canada celebrate, and they'll get a line-out 35m from the line. 

Another attacking line-out goes awry from Tuttosi, and England are kick to clear to halfway off the boot of Kildunne. Hogan-Rochester runs back into contact 35m out, before Tessier nudges a kick in-behind the opposition defence. Kildunne is back to collect and carry into contact, and the visitors set a few phases in their own territory. 

Hunt feeds the scrum, before sending it into midfield for Heard. The midfielder makes a strong carry up within 10m of the line, before Breach gets a touch out on the left wing. They then go to the forwards as Feaunati makes a carry, and Botterman takes them even closer. 

TEAM NEWS: Canada - Eight changes have been made to the starting side that defeated Ireland by 13 points. McKinley Hunt and DaLeaka Menin join Emily Tuttosi in the front row, which sees Brittany Kassil and Alex Ellis move to the bench, while Laetitia Royer starts ahead of Tyson Beukeboom at lock. Pamphinette Buisa comes onto the blindside flank for Julia Omokhuale and Fabiola Forteza onto the openside for Caroline Crossley. In the backs, Paige Farries and Asia Hogan-Rochester slot onto the wings in place of Alysha Corrigan and Fancy Bermudez Chavez, who move to the bench. Julia Schell replaces Taylor Perry at fullback to round out the changes.

Aitchison sends the drop-out downfield, and Farries runs back into contact on the 22m line. Hunt makes a carry to get them within 15m, before Holtkamp gets involved too. Canada hot on the attack, and Tessier drops a kick in-behind the defence for Farries to chase down the right wing. It doesn't bounce her way though, and the ball trickles over the sideline to signal the break. 

Schell collects the restart inside her own 22, before clearing up to halfway. It doesn't look a good kick, but Aitchison loses sight of it in the air, and spills the ball forward. Horrible start to the half for England, and Canada will pack a scrum on halfway. Easy out for the hosts...

England get the penalty at the scrum, and they've really taken charge in that area as the contest has wore on. Scarratt finds touch on halfway, and the line-out comes into midfield for Packer to carry. Aldcroft follows with a charge, before Bern gets them on the front foot get within 40m. 

Aitchison goes to touch from the penalty, and finds the sideline 10m out. Big chance coming for England.

Canada get us underway! And Heard takes it down inside her own 22, before running up into contact. She runs away from her support early though, and Royer gets in over the ball to win a big turnover penalty. Great defensive start for Canada, and they find touch 5m from the line. 

England find touch 35m out from the line, and Cokayne's throw is pinched by Royer. Canada turn it over and swing it wide for Farries on the left, who finds touch with a grubber kick over the sideline on halfway. 

Five minutes have elapsed on the yellow card for Kildunne already, and Canada haven't been able to take advantage as of yet. Pelletier eventually feeds the scrum, before Farries clears long downfield. Aitchison back to collect and runs into contact 40m out, but Schell does brilliantly to get in over the ball and win the turnover penalty. 

Kildunne clears away downfield off the back of the line-out, and Canada carry back into contact 35m out. Buisa tries to make one of her trademark breaks through the middle, but she loses it forward in contact, and the hosts produce another error. Scrum for England. 

Tuttosi's throw to the front is accurate, and Canada set the driving maul. They make some good meters up over halfway, but Gallagher loses it forward as the ball comes out, and England will pack a scrum just inside the attacking half. Both coaches look on nervously. 

The line-out is taken down by Holtkamp, and Canada set the maul, pushing up inside the 22. Eventually it comes wide for Tessier in midfield, who finds Corrigan wide on the right wing. The replacement gets within 15m of the line, before Pelletier sends it forward, and England get a scrum. Another big attacking chance wasted by the hosts. 

Hunt goes to the air with a box kick, and Tessier is back to collect possession on halfway. She runs into contact, but there's an obstruction from Canada, and the Red Roses get a penalty. Error after error from the hosts at the moment. 

Tuttosi's throw is collected by Forteza again, before Pelletier sends it away into midfield. It's messy though, and Tessier is forced into a clearance kick downfield. Kildunne collects and runs back into contact, before sending it wide for Westcombe-Evans on the right. The latter advances up within 40m of the line, and England set up with attacking ball. 

England have defended their WXV1 title with a hard-fought victory over Canada. On behalf of my fellow commentators, it's been a pleasure bringing you all the action from this edition of the tournament, and today's thrilling final match at BC Place. For now, Harrison Ryburn signing out.

Canada try and disrupt at the breakdown again, and Hunt sends a box-kick downfield. Gallagher spills it forward though, and England get the territorial win. They'll pack a scrum 35m out on the right edge.

The hosts spill possession forward just outside their own 22 off the restart, and England pounce on the ball. They build a few phases, before Aitchison knocks a grubber kick in-behind. It's easy for Schell to collect and clear though, and the Red Roses run back into contact 40m out. 

Hunt eventually feeds the scrum, before Forteza takes it off the back. Feaunati makes a carry too, and England flirt with their line. Pelletier gets in to pinch the ball at the breakdown, and Canada turn it over 5m out. She shifts it wide for Tessier out on the right, before Farries is held up over the try-line. England breathe a big sigh of relief. 

Halftime in Vancouver and England hold a tight two point lead over Canada in what is effectively the WXV1 decider for 2024. It's been a tremendous game of high-quality international rugby thus far, epitomised by some big defence from both sides. Either have also had their chances and period of dominance with ball in hand, but have struggled to put their attacking opportunities away, particuarly Canada in the final ten minutes of that opening half. 

Cokayne's throw is intercepted by Senft, and Canada turn the ball on their side. Gallagher kicks away off first phase, and Kildunne runs up into contact on halfway. Her error-strewn night continues with a knock on though, and Canada kick downfield, forcing Breach to clear to touch 25m from her own line. 

Tuttosi goes even closer with a run to put Canada 5m out, before Royer is stopped just short. Pelleter gets quick ball, but Senft spills it forward right in front of the try-line, and all the pressure evaporates. Another chance missed for Canada, and England will feed a scrum 5m from their line.
