Thanks for joining me here on Tribe as tries from the Menager sisters and Teani Feleu earned France their first WXV 1 win over The USA in Langley; I hope you’ve enjoyed our coverage; I’ve been Rory Morrow and I look forward to seeing you again soon for another live text commentary!
Up Next - The USA host Ireland in their next WXV 1 match on Friday. France, meanwhile, have a week’s recovery before they take on New Zealand next Saturday.
France will be happy with that result and performance. They soaked up USA attacks with excellent defence and first-up tackling. Then, at the other end, they had what The USA lacked: ruthless finishing as they converted their territory into points. Menager's first-half try was patiently worked and perfectly finished whilst the second try, from sister Romane, really gave The French control of proceedings. Their confidence was up and they used that momentum getting what proved to be an important third try just three minuets later. A hard-earned first WXV 1 win.
Considering they were a player and twenty-two points down by the fiftieth minute, The USA have done exceptionally well to end up only losing by eight points in the final reckoning. They bossed large parts of the match but lacked composure so often when they got into promising attacking positions. Zachary shone in her tackling, Johnson also impressed in the backrow with her tenacity while there was late redemption for Taufoou as she atoned for her earlier yellow card with a well-taken late try as The USA continue to search for their first WXV 1 win.
FRANCE GET THE WIN - After a low-scoring first half, France prevail with two second-half tries paving the way to a win in WXV 1 for them! A Queyroi penalty and Marine Menager try had them eight up at half-time, although Treder had a try disallowed for obstruction. France flew out for the second half, quickly building the lead as Marine's sister, the captain Romane, got try number two with Feleu adding number three moments later, both converted. The USA, to their credit, kept battling despite a yellow card for Taufoou. Johnson's try got them on the board and although it proved too little, too late, Taufoou will be pleased to have registered their second try with the game's last act.

TAUFOOU GETS THE USA'S SECOND - Stathopoulos's throw is good, Taufoou takes cleanly and the lock, earlier sin-binned, atones by rumbling over at the base of a rampant maul!
