That was truly a superb night of rugby, with Moana Pasifika coming up just short, being denied a famous comeback victory! For now, this is Nicholas Friedlander signing out.

The Highlanders have avoided undoing all the good work, largely by luck in the end, getting over the line to a needed victory. From the moment Cam Millar got knocked out, they lost all shape and direction, looking like a side who has had a big couple of months. They struggled in the second half, as key players tired, but in the end a crucial lineout steal from TK Howden, who added plenty of punch gave them the chance to wind down the remaining seconds. Nathan Hastie was the star, showing a great running and kicking game. Tanielu Tele'a was also really strong, charging to the line all day long. The Landers will gladly take the bye, before attacking the Hurricanes in a fortnight.

Moana Pasifika will be gutted. They poured everything into a big second half, but came up just short. They rectified some of their defensive issues, and won the collision big time. Millenium Sanerivi and Sama Malolo put in a fantastic one-two punch, whilst Ardie Savea was absolute everywhere. Patrick Pellegrini provided plenty of impact off the bench, and looks a good chance to start next week. They have some work to do, in regards to having those down spells, but again this is a step forward - and really they should have won. They'll be hungry for the Hurricanes next week.

A stirring second half effort from Moana Pasifika has come up just short, with missed kicks at goal effectively seeing them walk away with just a bonus point. They played all the rugby in the second half, and looked on course to burgle it late, but just lacked the polish to complete the comeback. They will also rue that blitz before the break, where they shipped 21 points. Once again though, Super Rugby has served up a cracker!

THE HIGHLANDERS GET OUT OF JAIL! The Landers phased patiently, with Moana pouring at the ruck. They did enough though, smashing into touch to get the job done.

HOWDEN STEALS IT FOR THE HIGHLANDERS! It is messy, but they have it out on their right edge...

DRAMA! Not straight at the lineout, so the Landers get a tap! Tavatavanawai looked to send it long, but he overcooks it into touch. Lineout on the 10m line.

Slade wins it, and Moana go to the drive, but are forced to peel it away. Moana settled it, but Tavatavanawai steals! It was a little loose as the Landers were forced back into the 22, but Gilbert settles it, finding touch 35m from the line.

The Highlanders look to slow it in midfield, but lacked cleaners, as Matavao got in over the ball to win a penalty! Touch found just outside the 22.
