It's four in a row for the Boks, both in The Rugby Championship and against the All Blacks. They now have 18 points on the table, and they might be feeling like they have one hand on the trophy already with just two matches left. There is still a chance for Los Pumas or the Wallabies to pull off an incredible comeback though! New Zealand head back east to take on their trans-Tasman rivals Australia in Sydney, while the Boks head west to take on the Argentinian outfit in Santiago del Estero.
The discipline was a bit messy from both sides, with two yellow cards apiece throughout the game. The first two came almost back to back, with first Wiese and then Reece sent to the bin within two minutes of one another, keeping the numbers level on the park. Le Roux was shown yellow three quarters of the way through the match, and as soon as he was back on the pitch Lomax was sent to warm the naughty chair.
The All Blacks were excellent on defence at the breakdowns, winning penalties and turnover ball over and over as the Boks were too slow to protect the ball. They tried a couple of times to get themselves onto the front foot through setting up lineouts down in the Boks half, but with those efforts thwarted they had to settle for the kicking tee to keep the scoreboard ticking off. A couple of missed penalties also did nothing to help them as the pressure started to set in in the second half.
The Springboks were keen to play out wide, with plenty of kicks ahead to chase up the wings. Moodie and Kolbe were huge on the chase, managing to either put great pressure on the Kiwi backline or just straight up securing the ball to get onto the front foot themselves. They ended up forcing the Kiwis onto scramble defence a couple of times with that tactic, but especially in the first half they weren't able to capitalise on that with some messy handling down the line.
The lineouts were a little messy from both sides though. There were a couple of feeds that went straight over the top, resulting in a scramble for the ball at the back, and both sides had lineouts picked off. The most notable being the All Blacks lineout with the clock in the red that the Boks managed to steal to secure the win. The rolling mauls didn't really manage to get either side going forward, but both the Boks' tries were ultimately scored off the back of the maul as they drew in the defence in the pack and then broke away off the base.
Both sides tried playing the game a little too quickly at times, with unexpected offloads and some fast passes not going to hand and slowing the game down as they had to pack down. South Africa had the upper hand at the scrums early on, but the All Blacks managed to meet them halfway as the game went on and neither side really had much in the way of dominance after that.
The first half was a little messy from both sides, with plenty of turnover ball either because of some poor handling or because of some great breakdown work by the defence. The Boks were way too slow to their own breakdowns in the first 40, resulting in a ridiculous number of penalties as players found themselves isolated with no one to place the ball for. New Zealand were only too happy to get themselves over those breakdowns, scuppering a couple of good opportunities from the home side.
The Boks have done it! They remain unbeaten in the 2024 Rugby Championship, they have secured the Freedom Cup for the first time in 15 years, and they record their fourth win in a row over their old foes for the first time since 1949! They had to fight their way back in the second half for the second week in a row, but they were brutal after the break, scoring the only two tries of the match in the second 40 while keeping the All Blacks to just a single penalty.

Time is up now as Barrett sends it to touch for the lineout! That's landed around the Boks 10. Stolen by Du Toit in the air! Nortje boots it into the stands for the final whistle!
