The win means that New Zealand head to the final where they will take on Ireland, while Australia still have a shot at a medal as they take on Great Britain in the bronze match.
There were plenty of turnovers throughout the game, with knock ons and rips in contact breaking momentum here and there. New Zealand certainly cleaned their game up better than the Aussies did, which is what allowed them to get onto the front foot so well in the second half. Australia also kept kicking their possession away, which didn't work for them at all, instead giving the Kiwis more opportunities with ball in hand to put them under pressure.
It was a fairly even first half, but the deadlock was broken with the clock in the red by the Kiwis, and the momentum was all there for them after that. They scored quickly again after the break, and even with Australia managing to claw one back it was too little too late as New Zealand added another nail in the coffin in the final minute.

Australia take the restart just outside their 22. Out to the right wing where it's kicked ahead, and the Kiwis are only too happy to walk it backwards over the deadball line to hear the final whistle.

Tap and go from the Aussies, and Lawson is smashed in the tackle! He coughs the ball up, and New Zealand with quick hands out to the left wing where Vai sprints up the touchline, holding off the defender! He manages to get the offload away as he's going to be driven over the touchline, and it's Rush who takes it in right under the posts!

Lineout set up just over halfway. Popped off the top and infield it goes through the hands. Rush out wide to Vai on the left wing, but he plays the ball with a knee on the ground as he's half tackled.
