The result means that New Zealand become the first ever side to win back to back titles in Singapore, and they join their Black Ferns Sevens counterparts with the gold medals in the final round of the 2023-24 HSBC SVNS Series, for what is the ninth time!
New Zealand were ruthless in the first half, pinning Ireland down inside their 22 with some deep restarts and excellent chases to keep the Irish under pressure. They managed to force a couple of turnovers as a result, and once they had ball in hand down in the red zone they were simply unstoppable. Ireland had to take a couple more risks and work a bit harder for their points, but they did score two stunning tries for their efforts.
New Zealand cinch it! Turned out to be a close match at the end there, but Ireland just couldn't capitalise on a last opportunity inside the Kiwi 22 to get the final score they needed for the win. The Kiwis looked like they were going to run away with it shortly after the break, but Ireland managed to claw their way back into the match with a converted try despite being under enormous pressure at the restart thanks to the kick from Conroy and a great chase.

Quick ball off the back of the scrum. Mollen stopped short as he runs into contact. Kennedy out wide to the left sends it back on the inside. Quick hands on the right wing to O'Sullivan who barges up into contact, but he's caught isolated and is pinged for holding on!

Popped off the top of the lineout on the 22. Wide through the hands to the left wing, and Vai has spilled it forward on his 22! One last shot for Ireland!
