Thanks for joining me here on Tribe as a superb Scotland overcame Wales at The Hive. For now, I’ve been Rory Morrow and I look forward to bringing you another live text commentary soon!
Up Next - Scotland’s next WXV2 Warm-Up sees them take on Fiji in eight days’ time. Wales have a fortnight between their next fixture, against Australia.
Wales can take heart from their first-half resilience where they thwarted Scotland repeatedly to preserve a precious lead. The pressure, though, was relentless from The Scots who carved out opening after opening. Both Welsh tries were well taken and they'll look to build on the positives from tonight before their next outing.
Lots of positives then, for Scotland. They were dominant throughout, having two maul drives held up by Wales in the first half and seeing McGhie spill the ball when she had a clear run-in. To her immense credit, though, McGhie scored twice, not letting the spill affect her. Two debutants from the bench, Brebner-Holden and Scott, shone in their cameos as the backs, Nelson especially, linked attacks effortlessly. A fine performance from the hosts.
SCOTLAND'S SECOND-HALF SURGE EARNS VICTORY - Having trailed at the break, Scotland scorched out for the second half, scoring a sublime seven tries, all converted by Nelson to steer the game away from a spirited Wales. The hosts struck ten minutes in through Gallagher but were left rueing first-half profligacy after Webb's try, converted by Bevan, had Wales ahead by two points at the break. Scotland, though, were ruthless in the second half as winger, McGhie darted over twice (and almost had another). Full-back, Rollie also scored a brace with Smith scoring in-between. Welsh replacement, Metcalfe, rounded off the scoring with a well-taken try two minutes from the end.

Scott hares into green, clear grass down the left wing. She's held up, though, by Bevan before Nelson knocks the ball on centrally.

METCALFE GETS ONE BACK - Lovely play from the Welsh substitute! Wales have their score as George draws the Scottish defenders towards her before excellently finding Bevan to her right in the 22. The captain's pass is perfectly weighted into Metcalfe, who on the right wing holds her ground and accelerates into the corner!
