The Black Ferns head to Christchurch next Sunday afternoon for their clash with Canada. The USA head to Melbourne to take on the Wallaroos on Friday night.
The USA tried hard in the second half with Hallie Taufoou among their best all afternoon. Taufoou had a number of strong runs while up front Hope Rogers was unlucky not to score a try after several cracks close to the line. Atumata Hingano was the pick of the Eagles' backs after she was injected in the 30th minute following the injury to Eti Haungatau.
Mererangi Paul was a standout at fullback for the Black Ferns with three tries and a try assist. Katelyn Vaha'akolo scored one try and made a number of breaks in the first half after some quality shifts by Amy Du Plessis. Layla Sae was a standout in the pack with a number of powerful carries, including a bullocking 40m run where she bumped off one and sliced past two more defenders to score a try late in the contest.
The Black Ferns scored three tries to one in the second half to ease to a comfortable 57-5 win over the USA Eagles in Hamilton. The bulk of the damage was done inside the first 26 minutes where New Zealand piled on six unanswered tries on their way to a 36-0 halftime lead. The USA were much more competitive in the second half and were rewarded with a try to Freda Tafuna after a 15 phase sequence in the 64th minute. Ruby Tui opened the second half scoring with a try in the 55th minute before Layla Sae and Patricia Maliepo added further tries in the final 10 minutes to seal a dominant performance by the Black Ferns.

New Zealand opt to tap from the penalty as they swing it wide to the left. Sae takes a run in the middle before an errant pass is knocked down by the Eagles on the right. That will be fulltime.

The USA overthrow the lineout as Cantorna takes possession in the midfield. Kronish takes a run on the left where Olsen-Baker wins a clean steal at the breakdown. Perris-Redding is penalised for losing her feet at the breakdown.

The Black Ferns take possession from the lineout before Demant rolls in a threatening grubber that is reclaimed by Paul who is tackled 12m out. Hingano is quick over the ball and wins the penalty for holding on as Cantorna clears to touch just outside her 22m.

New Zealand work it up near their 10m line from the restart before Maliepo shifts it wide right to Tui who is contained near halfway. Viliko and Simon combine in the midfield before Paul is cut down 43m out. Tukuafu races up to intercept but Benson is penalised for offside. King finds touch 33m out.
