Next up for England is a much-anticipated clash with Canada, with both sides unbeaten in the WXV 1 so far. Meanwhile, New Zealand will face France as they continue their search for their first win of WXV 1, knowing they need vast improvement if they hope to turn their fortunes around. For now, that rounds things out in this one. Thanks for tuning into Tribe.
Kildunne and Breach were the standout performers for England, with Kildunne involved in multiple tries and Breach scoring three of her own. England’s forwards were also immense, dominating the set-piece and breakdown, which allowed their backs to cut through the New Zealand defence. For the Black Ferns, Olsen-Baker and Roos showed some promising moments, but overall, they were outclassed and let down by a high error count.
As the clock wound down, England continued to pile on the pressure. Some strong forward play set up Zoe Harrison for a try in the 77th minute, putting the result beyond doubt. New Zealand managed a late consolation when Maama Vaipulu powered over in the final play of the game, making the scoreline slightly more respectable but doing little to mask their disappointment.
Despite England’s dominance, New Zealand fought back bravely with two tries of their own. Georgia Ponsonby crossed the line in the 58th minute after some good work from Liana Mikaele-Tu'u, and a sharp individual effort from Maia Roos, who scored after a swift counter-attack sparked by Kaipo Olsen-Baker’s intercept. England's response was swift, though, as Breach completed her hat-trick in the 70th minute, stepping past Ruby Tui to finish in the corner, showcasing her lethal finishing ability.
The second half started with a bang for England as they immediately picked up where they left off. In the 45th minute, some slick hands from Tatyana Heard and Ellie Kildunne sent Abby Dow away to finish in the corner, increasing the pressure on the Black Ferns. Just minutes later, Renee Holmes’ clearing kick was charged down by a rampaging Natasha Hunt, who collected the ball and scored to stretch the lead further. England’s relentless attack continued, with Dow once again involved, setting up Jess Breach to score her second try of the game in the 51st minute, effectively putting the game out of reach.
STATEMENT MADE! England secure an emphatic 18-point victory over New Zealand after a dominant second half performance in their WXV 1 encounter. The Red Roses built on their 10-point half time lead with a relentless display of attacking rugby. New Zealand, who started brightly, struggled to maintain their intensity and were punished by an England side that was clinical throughout.

NEW ZEALAND GET A CONSOLATION TRY! Lolohea trucks it up in front of the posts. Pick and go for Rule and she is only 2m away. Henwood goes low, as does Roos, with Vaipulu going at pace to ground it on the line!
