Thanks for joining me here on Tribe as England defeated France in an entertaining clash at The Kingsholm Stadium. For now, I’ve been Rory Morrow and I look forward to bringing you another live text commentary soon!
Up Next - England next take on New Zealand in their second Warm-Up game. France commence their WXV2 campaign against Canda on the twenty-ninth of September.
Good signs for France, too. Especially in the second half with three, varied, but all well-taken tries as they refused to fold. Their young players all saw invaluable minutes as they continue to prepare for the World Cup next year.
Lots for England to be happy about. Winger, Breach, looked threatening across the pitch as she scored twice. Fly-half, Aitchison conducted play nicely as well as contributing four difficult conversions. The bench all had an impact as well, maintaining that fierce tempo to the finish against a France side, who were stronger in the second half.
ENGLAND SEE OFF FRANCE FIGHTBACK - England do enough to get a well-deserved win at The Kingsholm Stadium! The Red Roses put themselves in pole position, 19-0 up at the break, after tries from captain, Packer, winger, Breach and centre, Rowland. Talling added a fourth after the interval before Sochat, earlier sin-binned, got France's first try of the day. Breach registered her brace with Menager then bundling across for the visitors. Substitute, Packer darted in before another replacement got on the scoresheet with France's, Bourdon Sansus, recording the final try of an entertaining encounter.
80+1'
Atkin-Davies throws and Campion flings it away to Scarratt, centrally. It's worked across the field before France, Bigot, makes a fine turnover before Tuy knocks the ball out of play on the left.
80'
Scarratt catches and scampers forwards again. England switch it wide right and were playing with an advantage. Harrison thumps into touch on the left for a 5 metre lineout.
79'
Instantly, England come again as Packer darts into the 22 with a sniping run down the right. She's hauled to ground by Menager before Cleall and Bern both carry from close range but can't get over, ruled to be short by the referee. France are desperately defending with Bigot forcing Heard back. Atkin-Davies then knocks it on and France are awarded another goalline-dropout.
78'
ENGLAND HELD UP - Atkin-Davies opted for a pick and drive from a few metres out, offloading to Bern, in support, before France get bodies back, heroically, to hold England up on the line. It'll be a goalline-dropout.
