That wraps our coverage from this one here on Tribe. Many thanks for tuning in, we'll see you next time. Stay safe out there.
Credit to Australia. A good bounce back performance after last week's disappointing defeat to Scotland. They looked so good for so much of this game, but ultimately fell just short. There's a lot to like about this Aussie side and one would expect that they will continue to grow and improve over the coming months.
Andy Farrell's last game in charge of Ireland for a while ends up being a win. He's off to B&I Lions duty now, preparing for the tour to Australia in the summer of 2025. He won't be at all happy with the performance but it's often said that the mark of a good side is one that wins when not at their best. Simon Easterby takes over now in an interim head coaching role, there's lots to work on ahead of the Six Nations.
Error strewn, Ireland not really finding their way in attack. Crowley and Casey were instrumental when they came on for the final quarter, linking up nicely and bossing the team around the field.
IRELAND HOLD ON! A knock on right at the end with the clock in the red and that will be that for these two sides in 2024. A close game, a scruffy game, but Ireland do just enough to grind out a win.
80'
Lolesio finds touch after van der Flier gave away a penalty for hands in the ruck. Lineout for the away side on halfway as the clock winds down.
79'
Scrum down at the front, reset called.
78'
Ireland steal possession and are attacking just inside the Wallaby half. Making good ground and eeking out the clock, but it's knocked forward after Beirne made a half line break.
77'
Crowley will want that kick back as he miscues an attempted long grubber. Straight into touch, lineout on halfway for Australia. Edmed's debut comes to a quick end, he's having to go off for a HIA. Good spot from the Australian physio, Edmed was stumbling around after getting his head the wrong side on a tackle.
