Led by their young first-five, Jack Crowley, Ireland took over in the second spell and suffocated France out of the game. Already down to 14 men courtesy of a Willemse red card, Les Blues had a battle on their hands and ultimately couldn't keep up with the Irish, who crossed for second half tries through Nash, Sheehan, and Kelleher. A Gabrillagues try for France in the 53rd minute had the home crowd roaring, but Ireland silenced them soon after with tries of their own.
