Ford adds the extra two from out right and all of a sudden England are 8 points up. They don't look finished either and France need to change something here. 

Earl goes very close following an industrious line break. The France defence is stretched

Free kick against the head for an early engagement. Ford will launch up a garryowen. 

France exit well off the boot of Le Garrec and steal the subesequent lineout . Brilliant hands to the left hand side 

France with an easy exit after Genge doesn't use his arms in the tackle. Penalty England but Genge shakes his head in disapproval. 

France playing keep ball on halfway and they are playing with advantage for a no arms tackle. They're keeping the ball alive well and Bielle-Biarrey and Penaud are in off their wings hunting for the ball. They make about 15-20 metres but Gardner decides to bring it back for a penalty. This is within Ramos' range. 

Ramos makes it a one point game from out on the right hand side. 

Stolen lineout by England and they work a phase or two inside to give Mitchell an angle to box kick away. Daly gives chase and takes in the high ball superbly. Ford then puts a kick into the 22 which finds touch. Bielle-Biarrey races back and hastily kicks it away. Misses touch and Smith runs it back. Space opens up on the right hand side and Freeman looks to exploit it. Cuts inside off his wing but the offload goes into French hands and they clear. 

Ramos and Smith collide in the air and the referee deems that to be an illegal tackle from Smith. Ramos misses touch with the penalty though and Smith ends up finding touch up towards his 10m line. 

Simple conversion from straight in front. 

England will be looking to build on the momentum of that last gasp Marcus Smith drop goal to seal the win against Ireland last week. They'll be looking to show that last week was no fluke and they are a side heading in the right direction. Their opponents France have struggled this year but have still shown glimpses of the side they used to be. No one side is a strong favourite in my books! 

Alldritt picks it off the base but he's driven backwards in the tackle by Underhill. France retain possession though and opt for the pick and drive game. Ramos then tries a crossfield kick to Penaud but it's gone too far out the back of the dead ball zone. 22 dropout for England. 

Alldritt with some ferocity as he comes into the tackle zone but he doesn't make many yards. He's back to his feet though to chase the Le Garrec box kick and brings Daly down quickly. England go through the hands to Smith but are being held inside their own half by a stiff French defence. 

Decent run from Ramos off first phase and Underhill brings him to floor on halfway. Advantage being played to France after Chessum doesn't roll away and Gardner decides to bring play back. Ramos sets up the lineout just inside the 22. 

LAWRENCE BURSTS THROUGH! Good maul D initially from the French but Mitchell gets the ball to the Backs and all it takes is one missed tackle from Fickou for Lawrence to break the line. Simple score for the inside centre under the sticks. 

France putting it through the phases to wind the clock down and they've done it well enough to allow Ramos to kick it off the park. France are victorious! 

England settle into their pods attacking on halfway and I suspect a kick will be coming shortly. They instead go to Smith in the outside channel. He's absolutely nailed in the challenge and Mitchell stabs a box kick over the heads of the players in front of him. Gets a good bounce and it flicks Barre's arm on its way into touch. 

England with the lineout in the 22 but they lose it after a few phases and France hack through. Daly in a bit of trouble but gets to the ball under heavy pressure from Barre. Martin with an excellent clearout though which gives England enough time to get supporting numbers back. 

Taken back over so it'll be a France put-in 5 metres out. Cracking opportunity to go 14 points ahead. 

LE GARREC WITH THE TRY OF THE TOURNAMENT! France exit well off the boot of Le Garrec and steal the subesequent lineout . Brilliant hands to the left hand side where there is space. Fickou breaks and slips the offload away to Barre. He accelerates, dummies past one, glides into the 22 and offloads to the trailing Nolann Le Garrec who dives over for the score. They've gone end to end on the counter attack and what an attack it was, one of the best tries you'll see. 

Advantage France following an illegal sack of the maul by Will Stuart. Called by the linesman on that side and Lucu's stray kick means Gardner brings play back.

Early blow for England with Furbank forced off with a calf injury. Smith on to replace him. France will kick loosely at their own peril. 

6 points separating the two sides at the break and it's been an intriguing encounter so far. France with the upper hand but they've fumbled a 13 point lead with that missed tackle from Fickou and don't have as much scoreboard pressure as a result. Both sides with discipline issues that will need cleaning up. 

Ramos sets up the lineout just outside the England 22 and Marchand finds his man at the tail of a short lineout. Midfield backline move breaks down and England have it back. Daly pumps it forward with a left footed clearance and Ramos returns the favour. Ford calls a mark to allow everyone to have a breather. 

Another mark taken by Ford after a quickly taken Barre lineout and kick. Ford pumps it into touch again but this time it won't be a quick throw. 

Ford converts from out wide left. England into a narrow lead. 

George finds Itoje at the back but the maul is driven backwards and England have lost it. Cros carries and the speed of ball is quick. Frantic pace continues but England disrupted it enough as Chessum hacks it forward. Daly chases but it bounces cruelly over his head and trickles into touch. 

England suffered their worst ever defeat at Twickenham to France last year, 53-10. I suspect things will be closer today and England may have a bit of a chip on their shoulder after that defeat. They've shown that they can make the psychological aspect something to feed off and I wouldn't be surprised if they want to right the wrongs of Twickenham 2023.

Eventually the countdown finishes and Ramos kicks off. England promptly exit and France are able to attack. Depoortere goes off on a good run down the left hand side and France are up to the edge of the 22 now. 

BANG BANG FROM ENGLAND! England send Ben Earl running down Ramos' channel and he takes the pop pass from Genge at pace. Bursts through the attempted tackle and that sets up a 2v1 with the final defender. Commits him and gives to Smith who finishes well. 

Too much from Lucu on the box kick and Smith calls a mark under no real pressure. Quick tap and pass to Ford who kicks it off the field up over halfway. 

Kick tennis between the two sides with England coming out on top of the territorial battle with Barre spilling the high ball. 

Ford acting as the sweeper in behind again and he's perfectly positioned to call another mark following a poor French kick. Touch found in between halfway and the French 10. 

Raucous reception for the two teams as they emerge from the tunnel. Time for the anthems, a healthy English contingent in the stands given the volume coming from the stands. La Merseillaise as loud and energetic as ever. 

France work a few phases on halfway before Le Garrec box kicks over the top of the England defence for Ramos to chase. Penaud then knocks it on out wide, scrum on the way for the away side. 

Ford drags England ahead by one with a superb kick from wide on the right. 

Another chess match between the two sides as they trade kicks back and forth. Marchand gets in over the ball though as Smith challenges the line with his footwork. The support is slow to resource the ruck and he wins a holding on penalty. 

RAMOS WITH NERVES OF STEEL! Straight, long and true from right on the halfway line. 

Cros takes it in at the front and the rolling maul drives its way out of the 22. Goes to ground but Le Garrec has it at the back and works a phase or two before box kicking away. Finds grass with the kick but Freeman brings it in on the one bounce and weaves his way infield to try and find a running lane. 

Ramos strikes it true from out near the left touchline and ten metres out of the 22.

Ramos with a rare miss of the tee from out near the left touchline. Still just the 6 points between the two sides. 

Gardner isn't happy with what he's seeing at the first attempt of the scrum. Has a word with the two front rows before resetting. 

England came racing out of the blocks in the second half scoring two tries after the break. They plateaued somewhat from there on out though and it was their discipline that let them down in the end. 

Clean ball off the top of the lineout but it's messy in midfield. France hold onto possession though and get an advantage for offside. Penaud runs straight across the field evading many tacklers as he goes but Gardner brings play back for the original penalty. It's right near halfway but Ramos will try the shot. 

France counter from no where with Penaud slicing through the slimmest of gaps. Clear line break and he opts for the kick in behind for Bielle-Biarrey to chase. Smith and Bielle-Biarrey in a foot race and the Englishman just about gets there first to dot down over his own line. TMO Ben Whitehouse checking whether it was carried back or not. 

Freeman knocks it forward out of the air and looks to be away. Amashukeli, one of the linesmen, thinks that was deliberate and Gardner gives a penalty. They have a quick look upstairs with the TMO and decide to stick with just a penalty. 

Too deep on the kick from Ford and a mark can be called by Ramos. He finds touch on halfway. 

Mark called by Barre inside his own 22 and he finds touch up over halfway with the free kick. 

Stolen back by Mitchell but he spills it forward just as quickly and it trickles into touch. France have the option and choose the scrum. 

Good touch found by Ramos up towards halfway and that allows time for Tuilagi to come on in what could be his final appearance in an England shirt. The away side have two big men in Lawrence and Tuilagi in the midfield now. 

Fierce battles at the breakdown and England don't want to lose it here. Mitchell realises that and box kicks for Daly to chase. Tapped back to Itoje but the big second row loses it and Cros breaks through. Offloads to Ollivon who charges into the 22. Hge numbers on the left but Ramos opts for the kick pass. Fickou regathers and gives to Alldritt who crashes it into contact. Gardner then sticks out for an advantage which doesn't end up accruing. 

TEAM NEWS: England - Steve Borthwick has made one change to the starting side that edged Ireland 23-22 at Twickenham last weekend. With Immanuel Feyi-Waboso ruled out through concussion, Elliot Daly comes in on the left wing with Tommy Freeman shifting over to the right. After missing the win over Ireland, Ethan Roots returns on the bench with Manu Tuilagi, who will make his first England appearance since the 2023 Rugby World Cup Bronze Final after recovering from a groin injury. 

Penaud retrieves the bouncing ball after Le Garrec's kick and France attack inside the England half. France put it through the phases but to not much avail and they're held at the edge of the 22. It then goes into touch, last off an England hand. 

Deep restart from Ramos and Mitchell finds touch immediately, hoisting it up over his own 10m line. 

FREEMAN IN THE CORNER! Maul set by England but it doesn't quite work out and instead they turn to Tuilagi to carry it up off first phase. Quick ball for Care and the England forwards race around the corner. Quick ball again and excellent hands from Smith and co put Freeman away over on the right flank. Dives over for the score to bring England within a point. 

On his 31st birthday, Ford thumps it over the crossbar. Elegant stroke from about 25 metres out and right of the posts. 

Dan throws into the lineout short and England recycle. Mitchell shapes to box kick and does so prompting a kick battle between the two sides. 

Mistake from France hands possession back to England. Knocked forward in the collision. 

Ramos levels it up from straight in front and 45 metres out. 

Clean ball off the top of the lineout but the tackler is isolated and Dombrandt wins the holding on penalty. Brilliant defence from England. 

Ramos adds the extra two from just left. 7 point lead now for the home side. 

France beginning to look thretening again as they attack inaise the 22. England competing at every breakdown but they'vegiven away a penalty. 

Another penalty for England and it's France's discipline under the pump now. Ollivon penalised for an early drive at the maul. 

France with one of the all time Six Nations tries, finished off by Le Garrec but they've not really been that effective in stringing prolonged attacks together. They've been good at the gain line but England haven't been far off the pace either in that aspect either. All to play for in the second half, could still easily go either way. 

Ford with a good restart down the middle. Slade gets close to regathering but knocks it on and Le Garrec box kicks for touch. Good exit up over halfway.

France straight back on the attack inside England territory. Going through the phases and finding gainline success well. Le Garrec with a kick over the top for Bialle-Biarrey to chase but Ford was covering the backfield well. Good sweeping and he calls the mark. 

France with an error as Le Garrec's kick to touch doesn't work out. A slight pause to proceedings as a few players receive treatment and strapping. 

Earl takes it up on first phase and Slade then puts a kick through for Smith to chase. Penaud gets there but Smith is chasing like a man possessed and bundles the winger into touch. 

A mixup on the kickoff. Gardner hasn't blown his whistle but the game kicks off. Gardner brings play back but not before an entire breakdown was formed. Comical stuff. 

Solid French scrum but England win the ball back following a knock on and Ford stabs a grubber into touch inside the French 22. England playing the territory game well there. 

France with some moments of brilliance in that game, with Penaud showing the world why he is up there with the very best when he has the ball in hand. Ramos with a belter of a kick in the dying embers to bring France into the lead and that's how it stayed for the remainder. Another good performance from Le Garrec at 9 while Ramos controlled things well. The pack fronted up in the second half, giving France a physical edge in the final 20. 

FRANCE PULL AHEAD WITH A BELTER! All England's own doing that one. Overthrown lineout and Ramos volleys it through. Slip from Daly in the backfield and that gives the advantage to Penaud running onto it. Wins the race to the ball and gets his hands free to offload to Fickou inside him. The crowd erupts as he sprints under the posts, France go ahead! 

Lawrence bundled into touch in a huge collision and France have a penalty advantage from the ensuing maul. Genge in at the side and Gardner comes back for it following an unused advantage. 

BARRE STRIKES BACK! France beginning to look threatening again as they attack inside the 22. England competing at every breakdown but they've given away a penalty. Getting gain line success with every carry and they've contracted the defence. Ollivon found at first receiver and he has numbers outside him. Gets the offload away to Barre who darts in to finish off the attack. 

TEAM NEWS: France - Fabien Galthie has rewarded the side that got the job done 45-24 against Wales in Cardiff by naming an unchanged 23 for this week's final round clash in Lyon. 

France win a tight contest and as a result finish second in table. England drop down to third but will be bitterly disappointed, they were so close to a famous victory. They've backed up the performance from last week anyway, plenty to build upon going into the remainder of the club season and the summer tour to Japan and New Zealand. 

Maul set by England but it doesn't quite work out and instead they turn to Tuilagi to carry it up off first phase. Quick ball for Care and the England forwards race around the corner.

Welcome to Tribe for coverage from the final Six Nations game of the 2024 season. England are in Lyon to face up against France in what is in essence a battle for second place following Ireland clinching the championship in their win against Scotland. I'm Elliott Johns and I'll have the action for you as it happens.
