Bay of Plenty will await their opponent in next week's Final. If Wellington win they will travel to Sky Stadium. If Waikato win, the Steamers will host in Tauranga next Saturday afternoon. Thank you for following the coverage this afternoon, this is Anthony Morgan signing off.
Canterbury lived off scraps in the first half and did well to fight their way back into the lead but they couldn't sustain it after halftime. Dallas McLeod was strong in the midfield with several powerful runs while Corey Kellow and Billy Harmon toiled hard in the pack. Ultimately Canterbury's discipline came back to cost them and the Steamers took full advantage.
The Steamers were led up front by Nikora Broughton who provided a number of powerful carries in the first half. Out wide Leroy Carter and Reon Paul created plenty of havoc while off the bench Lucas Cashmore and Semisi Paea brought huge impact.
A powerful second half showing by Bay of Plenty has lifted them through to next weekend's Bunnings NPC Final after they overran Canterbury 32-20 at Tauranga Domain. Trailing 8-13 at halftime, it didn't take the Steamers long to regain the lead after Willis Halaholo powered through Isaac Hutchinson to score in the corner in the 43rd minute. They extended their lead to nine points in the 55th when Leroy Carter finished a cracking movement involving both Lucas Cashmore and Kaleb Trask. A penalty to Trask kept the scoreboard ticking over as the game entered the final quarter before Emoni Narawa broke the game open with a long-range break to set up Semisi Paea for the match sealing try with nine minutes to go. Canterbury jagged a late consolation try to Jone Rova but by then it was far too late to mount a comeback as the Steamers deservedly booked their spot in the Final.
