That's all we have for this one. Stay with Tribe for the Men's Pacific Bowl clash between Fiji and Papua New Guinea which gets underway shortly in Suva. This is Anthony Morgan signing off.
Tonga were outpointed in the halves but they had a handful of strong individual performers which kept them in the contest until the final quarter. Manilita Takapautolo was powerful on the left edge with 106m and four tackle busts from 10 runs while off the bench Filomina Hanisi drew in plenty of defenders in each of her 10 runs which netted 114m. Lavinia Tauhalaliku was a standout on the wing with 147m and eight tackle busts.
Evania Pelite brought all her experience at the back for Fetu Samoa as she marshaled things with 166m and five tackle busts. Centres Lindsay Tui (182m) and Sarina Masaga (117m) were standouts with three tries and four line breaks while off the bench Evah McEwen provided massive impact with 114m and 11 tackle breaks in a quality 50-minute stint.
Fetu Samoa survived a stern test in the second half to book their spot in the Pacific Bowl Final after they outlasted Tonga 16-30 in Suva. Leading 10-20 at halftime, Samoa were forced to dig deep as Tonga changed the momentum of the match early in the second half. A threatening grubber by Emmanita Paki created some chaos on the ground before Lavinia Tauhalaliku willed her way over to close the gap to four points in the 42nd minute. While Tonga threatened to take the lead, the Samoan defence held firm on their line before a powerful surge and deft late offload created a runaway try to Jessica Patea with 14 minutes to go. Lindsay Tui sealed the win when she scored from a Pauline Piliae-Rasabale bomb in the 66th minute.
