With this commanding win, Fetu Samoa claimed the promotion-relegation final, securing their place in the next Pacific Cup pool. The victory caps off an impressive campaign for Samoa, whose blend of experience and skill has propelled them to the next level. PNG will look to regroup, with Albert’s leadership a bright spot as they work to build on this experience for future challenges. For now, that rounds things out in this one. Thanks for tuning into Tribe.
Samoa’s response was swift and spectacular. Mercedez Taulelei-Siala launched a stunning 70-metre solo effort down the left side, breaking tackles and showcasing her speed to score a sensational try. This effort effectively ended any chance of a PNG comeback, as Samoa’s confidence and cohesion proved too strong for their opponents. Tavarna Papalii and Evah McEwen displayed sharp footwork, adding flair to Samoa's attack.
PNG, however, refused to fold, with Albert powering through for a well-deserved try under the posts, rewarded for her gritty performance. Therese Aiton brought energy off the bench, and Albert’s try lifted PNG’s spirit as they pushed back with determination. Another strong set saw Albert again create an opportunity, and she cashed in for her second, keeping PNG’s hopes alive with spirited play through the middle.
In the second half, Samoa wasted no time, launching an early attack that led to Lindsay Tui scoring in the corner, with the referees awarding a potential eight-point try due to a high tackle. Pauline Piliae-Rasabale’s pinpoint kick extended the lead, further securing Samoa’s advantage. Moments later, Jasmine Fogavini continued her stellar play from the first half, running a perfect line to break through the PNG defence and extend the lead with another try, underscoring Samoa’s control of the game.
Fetu Samoa clinched a decisive 22-point victory over the PNG Orchids at CommBank Stadium, solidifying their promotion to the Pacific Cup pool for next year. Leading by 16 points at half time, Samoa kept their momentum into the second half, scoring early to set the tone. Jetaya Faifua’s impressive counter-attacking try and Sienna Lofipo’s strength through the middle showcased Samoa's dynamic style, while PNG’s defence struggled to contain their opponent’s relentless pace and clever ball movement. Elsie Albert was instrumental for PNG, showing resilience and pushing her team to maintain intensity.

PNG work it out of their own end with some strong runs through the middle. Albert makes a good charge, as does Aiton out of dummy half. Last play for PNG and the kick is sent deep, returned by Faifua towards the 40. Towards halfway goes Fogavini, with Pio then wrapped up, and that is full time.

Short ball for Nu'uausala and she is held up over the line. Back to the 10m line go Samoa, with the last play seeing the grubber tidied up by Reeves on the 10.

Samoa go right off the scrum, with the overlap sending Faifua into a little bit of space, stopped 38m away. Next to carry is Pio, before Nu'uausala is met well in centre field. Fogavini goes from dummy half next...

PNG send the restart long and it's carried back by Karpani to the 30. Next to carry is Pio, followed by Fogavini towards halfway. Left it's sent but the pass is slapped down by PNG for a Samoa scrum near halfway.
